Trending Topic Trial Date in 5 days , can I request adjournement ?

Unread post by DrSteven »

I have my trial date 5 days from today, an unexpected trip has come up and I have to leave in 2 days and be back in 10 days. Can I simply go to court office in person and request a new trial date ? Would they accommodate such request on a short notice like this ?

As long as it is not a vacation, they should give you a new trial date.

Well it is a vacation, a relative bought tickets for the entire family last minute without consulting with us first. Does that change things ?

Will this relative be with you to speak to the circumstances at all? That might help.

It's my mother in law , I can bring her with me if that would make look things better ? But she doesn't speak English much

I went to court office today, they had no issue re-scheduling, they were very accomodating to my surprise.
