I was pulled over near Goreway and Derry for "Speeding" which is complete BS. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was the same cop. It was the second last week of December 2015 on a Sunday around 10:50pm, the cop pulls me over and tells me that I was speeding. I told the cop that that was impossible since I am a very careful driver who watches his speed at all times, and who hasn't had any tickets in 10+ years. I pled my case to him and he indirectly agreed with me that I was indeed not speeding. He then asks me where I was heading to, and I told him there was a restaurant down the road, and I was going to pick up food that I had already ordered and that it closed in 10 mins. To which he replies do you have your licence on you? I said yes and handed it over to him. Now the cop wasn't rude or disrespectful in any way, but he was wasting my time cause I knew I had done absolutely nothing wrong. The cop than tells me to go and pick up my food and to meet him back at the exact same spot he pulled me over in while he holds onto my license. So I do just that and I come back to meet him. He informs me that he is issuing me two tickets which are: -Improper Number Plate Light 62(19) -Failure To Surrender Driver Licence 33(1) When he handed me the tickets I read them and told him that I don't understand. To which he replies and this is not a joke, this is literally what he said to me. The cop goes well I can issue you speeding tickets but I don't want to do that cause it takes up the courts time and my time and it's just a huge hassle. So here's what I am going to do for you since you seem like a nice guy. I am going to issue you these two tickets to different court houses, what you do is you request a Early Resolution Meeting on the back of the ticket and mail them in. Make sure when you talk to the prosecutor you do NOT tell them you have another ticket at another court house. He tells me that the prosecutor will immediately drop the tickets when you show them your drivers license and a picture of your licence plate light. If they do not request a trail and he "promises" not to show up. Now this is where it gets interesting, the cop brazenly explains his whole job situation to me, and why he's issuing these tickets to me. He tells me that because it is the holidays, officers have a quota system in place where they have to fill out a certain amount of tickets each month. He tells me that these tickets that they are issuing are useless tickets and are basically just for show, so that they can complete their quota and keep their bosses happy. Now I'm standing there in disbelief, for someone who is a law abiding citizen, who has never gotten in trouble with the law, pays his taxes and is genuinely a good person, this was unbelievable to me and it really ticked me off. But I held my composure and got my licence back and the 2 tickets he issued to me and I went home. Now I wrote this out all today because I have one question. Can I somehow request body camera footage from this officers camera and use it as evidence in my early resolution meeting? Or if I request a trial if I don't like what I hear in the Early Resolution Meeting, can I request this footage? Because not only will this footage show the officer holding my driver licence and issuing me a ticket for "Failure to surrender drivers licence" but also dash cam footage will show my car's licence plate fully working, and the officer issuing me a "Improper Number Plate Light" ticket. Now this is a complete waste of my time, I can be doing a 100 different things but because of this officer and his "Quota System" that he has to abide by, I now have 2 tickets to deal with which I shouldn't have received in the first place. Please let me know my option, and I look forward to hearing from ya"ll.

Going to call BS on this one/ Cops do not get to chose the court jurisdiction a ticket is issued to. Cops can face police act charges if the do not show up for court so no cop is going to promise to not show up. It is also a serious neglect of duty and deceit charge to issues tickets that there is no evidence for or made up entirely.(job ending type of ramifications). I think all scout cars have dash and voice recorder so I do not believe any cop would do what you said. So yeah this whole post is made up I suspect. ops

Same thing happened to me at Derry and Goreway. Got improper license plate light and improper headlights. One in Mississauga, one in Brampton if I'm not correct? I'm calling the op is telling the truth.

If what you're saying is true, I would strongly suggest filing a complaint either through the police service or the OIPRD. Theres not really any advice this forum can provide you if the charges are truly fabricated.

The officer who charged me was really nice, so I really don't want to get him in trouble (hence blacking out almost every detail), however, I actually have proof of this happening. Check the time on both tickets and the handwriting as well. Hopefully I don't get a cop coming to my door with a summons.. :( Personally, if it could happen to me, maybe the same thing happened to the OP. Sorry For The Poor Quality, The file was too big, so i had to shrink it.

These are two tickets from the same ticket book (sequential numbering) so would be the same courthouse. Plus the charges are number plate light and headlight nothing about your licence. I suggest you got stopped and got issued two tickets. Happens all the time.

That's actually the ICON numbers in the top left representing the courthouse. First one's Mississauga and the second one is Brampton. Ticket numbers would be in the top right which is blacked out.

I'm still interested in the OP's explanation for the different offences than those he related in the original post particularly where he made specific reference to the officer saying the charge might be dropped if a DL was presented to the prosecutor.

The OP didn't upload his tickets. I did. What I was trying to show is that I believe that he is telling the truth behind the false charges. My headlights weren't out but I still got charged for it. Bear in mind, I was originally pulled for Stunt Driving, and he gave me a break, which is what I'm assuming happened to the OP.

This is the most bizarre thread. I personally have a huge issue if coppers are writing tickets for offences that don't exist. Plus quotas are nonsense and no officer should have to make up charges because there are so many out there. If I even caught one of my recruits doing this I'd punch them in the throat !

Your original post 2 months ago makes no mention about you originally being pulled over for stunt driving. Not only that, but you've been pulled over for 50+ not once, twice, three times, four times, this new/old stunt driving charge, and come away with these amazing stories about how you were basically let off scot-free. So please excuse me if there's a bit of skepticism on my part when it comes to your posts, which is a shame because who knows what is really happening here.

Hello everybody I apologize for the late reply I have been extremely busy with work, and I am not very familiar with this website. I was checking my email for replies from this thread. I understand now that you have to physically come onto the website to check for replies. In response to OPS Copper, if you believe that this is BS, that is absolutely fine by me. Everybody is entitled to their opinions & views. However what happened to me was not fabricated, thus why I am requesting footage for the incident. No person in their right mind would request footage if they know they are guilty of something. And I wouldn't have taken time out of my day to write out the whole incident if I knew for certain that I was guilty & had done something wrong. In reply to Stanton, I understand that their isn't much advice I can get from these threads, but I wrote this out maybe to see if this had happened to anybody else, or if requesting footage was even possible. I can not speak for UnluckyDuck, our situations were a little different and I can guarantee you that we are not the same people. I got pulled over Speeding while UnluckyDuck got pulled over for Stunt Driving. Now I'm not here to convince ya'll that I am innocent or that this incident is true, I'm here asking for advice and to see if anybody else is in the same situation as me. In response to Argyll, unfortunately I cannot upload pictures of my tickets because after a few days of receiving the tickets, I did what the cop said and sent in the two tickets, to the 2 different courthouses. I only thought of posting my story to this thread after I sent the tickets in because to be honest I've never been in this situation before. I never thought to take pictures of the tickets nor had thought to check forums and threads because I've never been in this predicament. I've got a few parking tickets over the years but never traffic tickets. What I do have is 2 letters from 2 different courthouses, they are The Early Resolution Meeting Notices. I got them in 1-2 weeks ago, I understand it is not the same thing and this will not prove my story in the slightest. But on the notices you can see that where I got pulled over, they are the same addressees, also the "Officers No." are the same and the "Offence Date"on the notices are the same. And the date the courthouses issued The Early Resolution Meeting Notices are identical. Now I know some of you are skeptical whether I am telling the truth or not. I have no reason to lie, I've never been in a situation like this before and honestly I have no idea what to do. I have a clean record and would like to keep it this way, I do not want this officer to get into trouble like I've said in my original post. The officer was a very nice person, his actions however weren't. So attached to this thread are the pictures to my Early Resolution Meeting Notices. So if any of you have some constructive criticism or advice to my situation please let me know. And for those who still think that I am lying please skip this thread because I'm tired of trying to prove my innocence. On a side note, one of the early resolution meeting notices got torn on the right corner when I was opening the letter. I do not think the information in the right hand corner is important, if I'm wrong please let me know and I will find it and upload a picture of that as well. (It says Form 7.1 Provincial Offence Act O . REG ___) And the only thing I have blacked out is my name & address. Also I apologize for the quality of the photos, this thread only allows files to uploaded under 250KB in file size.

Personally I'd be calling the crowns and saying you want to deal with them together. You're either in one jurisdiction or the other. Maybe the cop finished one ticket book after the first ticket and picked up a different one for the seconds in error. If he intentionally sent you to two different courts I'd file a complaint because that is nonsense.

Just reread the original post. Clearly not a mistake on the copper's part if it did go as you said. If your story is how it happened I'd definitely be taking it further because that is a ridiculous way to do enforcement.

Did you by any chance had HIDs in your reflector headlight housing, allegedly? just my personal opinion, I hate when people do that, its blinding for oncoming traffic.

No I didn't. Used to have them years ago, but while driving home from picking my dad up at a bar, my girlfriend drove my car behind me (I was driving his car) and the lights just pissed me off. Took them out the next day and replaced them with those $2 walmart bulbs. UPDATE: I had my early resolution for improper license plate light. They didn't withdraw the charge, but offered a payment plan. I'll let you guys know how the trial goes.

UPDATE 2: Just had my ER for the improper headlights. Prosecutor said that I was guilty and insists I plead guilty. I said nope, I'll be waiting for my trial date in the mail. So much for the officers word of them dismissing the charge.

Request disclosure (officer's notes) for both tickets. Depending on what's written in the notes, you may need to get serious representation and decide whether you want to entertain the officer's version of events. Both charges afford you a "due dilligence" defence where you can argue the lights were working as you started your drive and got burnt out during the drive. Some sort of receipt/bill to show the purchase/repair of the lights. Having to play along with the story, while you're not under oath. But once you're on the stand, unfortunately... nobody will believe your "true" story; unless you had a dashcam rolling that recorded the event or an independent witness that observed the interaction. I advise not to go down this road on your own, but if the officer is willing to fabricate evidence (notes) and lay false charges while on the sunshine list; you're going to need to help. Casually driving around in the Greater Toronto Area could easily net a number of enforceable HTA charges. Why make up a speeding charge in order to get a traffic stop? then lay something completely irrelevant in two different jurisdictions?

Update: I went for my first early resolution meeting for the "Failure to Surrender license" charge and all I can say is that our Justice System is flawed. I told the truth to the prosecutor and he sent it to trial, while 4 other people with the same charge got it withdrawn by admitting to the prosecutor that they had accidentally left it at home. When i asked the prosecutor for a full disclosure he got very upset and rude and started making unnecessary comments like "Oh so you've done this before" and "Does it look like that there is a disclosure here" I politely told him that no I have not done this before, but I do read up on the law and I know what I can ask for in an early resolution meeting, because I called ahead and conducted my own research He said that he didn't have one and that I would have to request one when my Notice for Trail came in the mail. Your right iFly55, I probably shouldn't have gone down this road, I mean look at what I get for telling the truth. Had I lied this charge would have been dropped like it was dropped for the other 4 people with the same charge as me. I will be requesting a full disclosure once my trial date comes in, I know what I must do to prepare. Do you know if I am able to request dash cam footage from the officers vehicle for evidence? That will literally prove my case. Please let me know ASAP.

I have a problem and not sure what the hell to do about it. Few days ago I was stopped on a street going westbound against blinding afternoon sun following the flow of traffic. I drive a taxi for living in Toronto and have ACZ driver's license. I have a perfect record both for professional as well regular demerit points. I haven't been pulled over as a matter of fact in some 15 years for…
I have recently gone to court for a speeding ticket issued by an OPP officer. As it stood, the officer forgot to sign the ticket. So at my trial, before I made a plea, I pointed this out to the justice of the peace and asked that the ticket be quashed. I was asked to produce my copy of the ticket, which I gave and the JOP then agreed with me and dismissed the case. Before he did so, the…
I got pulled over (along with about 10 other cars) for going through a road closed sign. I had just pulled out of a parking lot pretty much right beside the road closed sign, and with about 4 cars behind me there wasn't much I could do but go through, so I think I have a good chance of fighting it. However, on my ticket under the Signature of issuing Provincial Offences Officer, it's left…
So here's my situation, any advice would be appreciated.
On June 26, 2013 I received a ticket for 25 over in a 60 zone
In early October I received my notice of trial (Feb 25, 2014)
In early January I sent in my request for disclosure
In late January I received a letter to pick up my disclosure, however when I picked up my disclosure it wasn't typed (I had requested it to be) and I needed…
Is there a legal requirement to report an accident to the insurer?
Scenario
- 2 vehicle accident
- each vehicle has less than $1000 damage
- each vehicle has damage roughly equal to insurance deductible
- a police Accident Report was completed
In this scenario the drivers decided to repair their own damages. But are they legally bound to report the accident and damages to the insurer? ...and out of…
I will be representing my wife at her speeding trial next week. Mostly everything is pretty much run of the mill but since she wasn't speeding we will be having her take the stand. Since this opens up the opportunity for the prosecutor to cross examine, I am just wondering if anyone here knows what kind of questions we should expect from the prosecutor in order to best prepare.
i got pulled over by a cop this morning in my kids's school zone for failure to stop at a stop sign. i am thinking of fighting this ticket, but i noticed that on the ticket itself it only says "disobey stop sign - fail to stop" and there is no mention of the demerit points. a co-worker mentioned to me that a ticket should state how many demerit points i am being docked. i know the Highway Traffic…
Alright, so this happened back awhile ago on June and I haven't appeared in Court. However, I would like some inputs and advice before I get into this battle.
Back in June I got a Speeding Ticket claiming I was going 100km/h on Blackcreek going south towards Lawrence. The Speed Limit there is 70km/h.
At this point of time, it was roughly traffic hour around 4-5PM. Coming off of the Highway, and…
Ive already done searches, read the act as best i can but still haven't read a complete answer. Where in the HTA does it state that the front license plate must be attached to the front bumper? I have it on the passenger sun visor (if ppl remember the old temp permits that taped to the pass side of windshield) i figured that this spot would be the same. However now they have got rid of…
My son was returning from school and was just entering the driveway when another vehicle hit the rear end. Police writes a ticket "fail to yield from private drive" 139(i). He is going to fight this ticket and made an application for disclosure. The trial is next week and he still hasn't received the disclosure.
He checked with the court last month and they said that they will call when disclosure…
i was travelling on the 401 (posted speed 100km/h) in the far left lane, when i caught up to a vehicle going ~110km/h. I patiently waited for the vehicle to move over a lane, but they did not. The vehicle behind me moved to the center lane to pass, but because he was a safe distance behind me, i moved into the middle lane ahead of him to pass the slower moving car. When I accelerated, i…
So I was returning from my honeymoon in Montreal, and was cruising down the 401 just inside the Ontario/Quebec border. I was passing one of the Onroute stations and saw an OPP cruiser. I checked my speed and I was doing 120. A few kilometers up the road the cruiser pulled me over and told me I was clocked doing 132 by the aircraft. I was a little surprised to see the ticket was for the full…
I made a right turn during prohibited hours (7am-6pm) in Toronto. I was ticketed by a COP who was specially watching for that trap.
After I've received the ticket HTA144(9), I discovered one of the seven digits of my license plate was incorrectly written on my ticket. I was thinking about to make a First Attendance at the court office to see the prosecutor for a reduced charge...any advice or…
Have been busy and haven't had much time to follow up on this...
Went to court having not received disclosure (and was not organized enough to apply for a stay), so the trial was adjourned. They photocopied the officer's ticket and notes and provided a log sheet from the plane. I've sent another request for the rest of the disclosure items.
So here's my question -- can an officer amend the ticket…
I am not sure if my case is really a case of " mis-use parking permit" and need some advises on whether i should fight the ticket. Here is what happened:
During the labor day long weekend, I took my parents to diner at a local shopping mall. (my father's hip was broken in 2016 and he's been on wheelchair since, the permit is in his name and I been using the permit to help him for doctor's…
I have a court date coming up where I need to subpoena one of the officers that was present when I got my ticket. The issuing officer didn't include the fact that the second one was present at the time in his report (disclosure) but did give me the second officers name and badge number after the judge told him to do it.
What I'm looking for help with is the process of me getting to…
I got pulled over on a 4 lane section fo Highway 7... Thank god I didn't get a stay at home ticket as well or my car impounded.
Officer clocked me at 156 km/h he decided not to impound my car and give me a 149 km/h since it was my first offence and he said I was polite and respectful. I would give this officer a 5/5 review if I could, very polite and respectful.
Long story short, I was driving from Toronto to Ottawa and around Napanee with my friend in two separated cars, the officer was parked on uturn. He followed us turn his light on and got between us and pulled us over, he told me that i was running at 152 km/h without showing me his LISAR. they suspended my and my friends license and impounded the two cars for 7 days. This was a Friday in January…
I'm unsure on what to do here. I was under the impression that I could request a stay on the day of trial because disclosure was not given to me in an adequate time. I requested disclosure 2x by fax, 5 months ago.
I read on ticketcombat that I had to file a motion 15 days prior to the trial to request a stay of proceedings.
Does anyone else get blinded by fog lights on rural roads? I don't seem to have a problem with them on lighted streets, but the badly aimed fog lights or ones with a poor cutoff really get to me when driving the Escort. I just came back from a 20-minute drive, and every single pickup truck had fog lights on, and forced me to focus on the bottom right of the road. My windshield is clean and…
