I don't have the best record, not many speeding tickets... Maybe one prior to this but I have tickets for other things. Recently got pulled over supposedly doing 136 in an 80. The officer was driving eastbound and I was driving westbound on a curved road. He pulled a U-turn and pulled me over. Did not let me speak, in fact said if I keep talking he would arrest me. Told me to take my keys out, called a tow truck and I was impounded for 7 days, suspended for 7 days and charged with speeding/stunt driving. Now was I driving 136 in an 80? Truthfully, I don't think so.. but that's up to the disclosure to determine since the officer said he caught me on radar. Now here's my question: I have a court date July 18th. If I show up and the officer is not there, is it dismissed? Also.. On July 18th (My first court appearance) should I speak to the prosecutor and try to get a plea charge for 49 over? Any advice guys? Thank you.

July 18th i'm assuming is likely your summons date. It's an appearance. There wont be a trial that day. If they offer it, sure. They may also take your prior driving history into account before making that decision.

If it says SUMMONS at the top of your ticket, then your court date is a first appearance and is not a trial date and the officer will NOT be there. You can just plead guilty at this date (not recommended) or a better choice would be to ask for disclosure and a trial date.

Wondering if the officer not signing the "Summons to Defendant" Form 104 defendants copy would constitute a fatal error. To be clear, the certificate is signed with a carbon transfer signature, however not one that is in ink. I have noticed that a fair amount of officers take the time to…
A couple weeks ago I was out for one of my last rides on my sportbike (94 Kawasaki ZX6E) before I sell it. I've had it for three seasons but have been wanting to get something less ridiculously fast and more comfortable for long distances.
Unfortunately, I got twinked while getting a last…
I was leaving a campus parking lot and into a campus road when i was pulled over by the police. I was given a failure to stop at a stop sign ticket. Can an officer legally give me a traffic law ticket as i was leaving a parking lot on a university campus
So today I got my first speeding ticket from going 80 km/h in a 50 zone, reduced to 70. I have been in an accident before so my insurance rate is already pretty high, yet I don't really handle my own insurance as I am the secondary driver on my family car. I'm also 20 and still have my G2, which…
I was parked last night in a parking lot in Scarborough. When I came back to my car, I see a $450 ticket on my car. There were no markings on the ground for lanes, or even painted blue for a handicap spot. There was a sign on the wall, but it was to the right of my car so i assumed it was for the…
Hey all, new to this forum. Need some advice. So a friend of mine (lets call him MC) drove his brother's car while his brother was overseas for the summer. Little did he know that the brother's insurance and vehicle plate expired in June. MC was pulled over and got three tickets:
I would try to give as many details as i can. And A link to my dash cam
I was driving north on highway 27, the cop pulled me over and said i was driving 101 KM/H when the MAX is 70KM/H, but charged me for 86 KM/H.Based on the disclosure they sent, they have a video from the cruise, and I have a my…
