Guy's I just wanna double check if anyone can confirm When buying a used car from a car dealer, what "fees" do I pay. from google I've found the below D.O.T $399.00 Administration Fee $199.00 Gasoline $30.00 OMVIC Fee $5.00 License Fee $120.00 does this all get paid to the dealer? what is the DOT fee for? I know I have to also pay tax, does this get paid at the dealer? do I register the car or the dealer? if myself, what paperwork do I take to the drivers license office, I also have a plate which would be good to transfer over to the car instead of paying for a new one. any other advise on the logistics/legaility of buying a used car form a dealer would help cheers

You only have to pay the purchase price and licence fees (fees charged for transferring ownership, plates and sticker) and HST. Some dealers will try to charge you extra to certify and e-test others will factor it in the purchase price. Admin fee is just a cash grab. The dealer goes to the ministry and transfers the car in your name and either buys plates and validation sticker for you or transfers your old plates on to the new car. It's always a good idea to buy from a dealer that you know or is known by someone you know. Purchasing a warranty from the dealer is also advisable (the warranty price is negotiable).

Of course the total purchase price is negotiable... As ynotp says, that's a rip-off. Are you kidding?!!!?! I've never heard of, or paid, for gas in the tank. Wow. I suppose the DOT would be to get you brand new plates... but if you're trading-in and purchasing another car, it should just be to transfer the plates. And BTW... if you go near the end of the month, a number of used car dealers try to move inventory off the lot around that time so you may have a chance of getting a slightly bigger reduction in your pricing. Ultimately, the total purchase price can be adjusted based on what you're willing to offer. One little trick I learned was, if they leave you in the room alone when discussing price, get up and walk out of the room. (There was a W-5 or Fifth Estate special in the 1990s that I recall seeing this in.) Worked great at the Honda dealer a couple of years ago: The salesman freaked, ran right up to us and we said "oh we're just talking about the Toyota Corolla... and Toyota Dealer 'X' is just over there..." Minutes later they sold us the vehicle for less than employee pricing, INCLUDING all of the fees.

I was involved in a collision a while ago. I was doing a left turn/u-turn in an intersection at the same time as someone else was doing a right-turn on the crossing road. There was no "no-u-turn" sign. My light was green and his was red. We basically converged in the center lane. There wasn't any…

I'm considering buying a strap-on motor for a bicycle for this summer, such as the one at www.motorizedbicycle.ca/bicyâ¦ant-head-bike-motor-kit.html . However, I haven't been able to find any clear answers about what part of the law, if any, they fall under. The kit in question has a motor with a…
So Again, I really don't know how I'm attracting attention to myself, but I am.
Saturday at 1:30 in the morning I was pulled over on the 400 for 142 in a posted 100 Zone. Honestly, I know I was speeding, but I thought maybe 110-120 (I'm trying to clean up my act.) Anyways, Pulled over, Ticketed,…
Sorry if i may be posting in the wrong thread my questions are as follows;
1. Are Highway Traffic Act Matters Kept Public? Say if someone did an Appeal would that appeal be kept as public record accessible to anyone who may need it for reference?
