@highwaystar thank you for your input into this discussion, it's been very helpful.
I thought they only used the Superior Courts (judge/jury) if one of the parties intended to "tort" sue the other for loss/damages (health, work, psych etc); isn't the threshold $30,000?
The damage at most to each vehicle appears to be <$3000.

What do you mean by "will be required"? Are there consequences if he does not come? From what I've been reading online and what the officer told me, the other party usually doesn't come to court as there is no incentive for them to come. This results in the charge being dropped. Rather than copy/paste posts from other threads, i'll just leave ...

If you choose to go to trial; the accident report will not be used to convict you. The officer will subpoena the other driver. That driver will be the crown witness and will testify under oath as to the details of the accident.

That is incorrect, if he gets an HTA conviction that carries +4 demerit points his license will get suspended. In my earlier post, I gave you two links: first was from the MTO, the second was the legislation that supports it.
The situation you're discussing is if he has multiple HTA convictions that carry less than 4 demerit points.

Also keep in mind that +49, +53 or Stunt Driving all carry four or more demerit points; you will receive an automatic 30-day driver's license suspension on your novice class G2 license; it's part of the novice driver's escalation sanctions.

Re: Can I use a bicycle trailer as a motorcycle trailer?
Keep in mind most insurance providers ask whether you'll be using your motorcycle to tow a trailer. A lot of them will not insure you if you do choose to tow a trailer.
So you should review your policy, because in the event you need to make a claim or there is a claim against you; your insurance doesn't deny you coverage.

Generally they will give you all the time that you need to review the footage. You're not watching a feature film, the alleged offence will take place within a couple of seconds. You're most likely just going to view it and take notes. Some jurisdictions give you a USB key or a CD with the video on it, and give you instructions on how to play it ...

A lot of threads in this forum discussing forced-fatal error. Here is a recent one: http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com/post34462.html
I don't think an officer would intentionally forget to write his signature. A verbal warning would have been much more effective.

Lets say a tire just came flying off a truck and hit your car, then the truck is responsible. But if the tire is stationary, then it's your fault; it's the equivalent of hitting traffic pylons, stopped construction/police vehicles.
It's your responsibility to avoid stationary hazards.

The crown is guaranteed going to find an amended zero point charge. Especially if the alleged offence took place inside or near a traffic-signal controlled intersection, then they have a slew of zero point charges available to them.

S144 (12) - Green light — fail to proceed as directed
