An unusual phone call from family that lives half way across the globe wouldn't be considered as an emergency.
Picking up the phone to dial 911 would be an emergency. In which case, the officer would obviously be made aware of an active emergency.
If your goal is to just have your fine reduced, it's best not to be too defensive during a ...

Re: Police Entrapment
The car in front of you was driving practically at the speed limit (80km) by your own admission. You had been accustomed to a higher speed and decided to make the pass. Already, you're speeding making that pass. There's no allowance for speeding while making a pass in Ontario. No one put you in that position. Now lets pretend you couldn't pass the ...

I don't know if a simple fine like that will hit my insurance. I still have a conviction - but a far lesser charge that carries no points. So we will see. Enjoy the weekend!

Re: Failure to Stop at Red Light Defense?
Failing to stop for a red light is an absolute liability offense. That means you either stopped for the red light or you didn't. That will be the basis of your trial. Either one or the other.
Keep that in mind as you progress.

Re: Question about my stunt driving ticket.
I have a court date July 18th. If I show up and the officer is not there, is it dismissed?
July 18th i'm assuming is likely your summons date. It's an appearance. There wont be a trial that day.
Also.. On July 18th (My first court appearance) should I speak to the prosecutor and try to get a plea charge for 49 over?
If they offer it, sure ...

So they may ask but I don't need to tell them correct?
If you move insurance providers and the new provider asks "Have you been convicted of an offense in the last 5 years?", yes, you'd have to answer as truthfully as possible.

Yesterday I got charged in my gym's parking lot (PRIVATE PROPERTY) , and was told they followed me in since they saw me on my phone earlier. I was parked when the officer came up to my window. Was I on my phone? Yes I held it to talk on speaker since I was just pulling in. What evidence do they have? I don't know but I'm hoping someone can help me ...

Re: Advice on Speeding Ticket 17KM/H Over Limit
I understand speeding is speeding regardless of how much faster I go however 52 and 67 is a HUGE difference.
Speeding is what they call an absolute liability offense. That means you were either speeding or you weren't. There's no in between. What the other poster was trying to tell you was you'll just be admitting your own guilt and the trial ...

Your son wasn't arrested for stunt driving. For whatever reason, they felt the need to search the car. It sounds like for the officers safety and his own, they temporarily put him in the back of the cruiser and let him out as soon as they were done. No, it wont impact your border travels.

Your photo's weren't coming through so i've fixed them.
To answer your original question, an officer doesn't have to show you the reading on the side of the road. They will leave all the info in their notes and that's how it will be made available to you.

It's already going to be a minor offense. If you've had a run of the mill speeding ticket before, expect much of the same.kkwale wrote:Is there any possibility that prosecutor changes it to a minor charge that won't affect my insurance too much?

Re: Red Light
Red light camera tickets are glorified parking tickets. Other than having a lighter wallet, nothing else is going to come out of it. Try to have the fine reduced and move on.
There's not much you can do. You've provided a lot of excuses, but no defense. Your vehicles mechanical issues are yours to deal with it. Your red light ticket will also show ...

It's hard to follow your vehicle situation.
If you've taken up residency in Ontario, you have 60 days to use your out of province license. If you're a visitor, you can use your license up to 90 days without having to do anything.
