We've had some history with the police in my town..
orilliapacket.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2158203
We have a steady police presence of 5 - 10 officers in the town at any given time.
Long story short I exercised my right to not talk to the police (I watch them beat the *EDIT* outta my brother and a…
Just wondering what you guys think of those HOV lanes.
Sure these lanes are faster then usual but i think they present a ton of problems, now the first thing i want to clear up is often we say speed is dangerous. Okay i can believe that depending on the context and situation its used in. But i think…
I heard somewhere that flashing your lights (i.e. clicking your high beams on and off) to warm drivers in the opposite direction of a speed trap is a violation of the highway traffic act.
Is this true ?
I was watching motoring 200X and they spoke about this, and accorinding to them, it is NOT illegal…
Mid July 2012 I was hit at 6pm by a drunk driver. That's when my hubby decided to tell me that he didn't take care of the insurance as he was supposed to. So, I got charged with driving without insurance. Car is in my name.
Inuries were minor - all of us had aches/pains, hubby had seatbelt burn…

Just wondering what this incident means...........
My wife got caught not making a full stop - no contest.
However, also got a "ticket" for failure to surrender card - but she did but it was expired.
She found the good card after that mistake and gave it to the officer.
However she still got a "ticket"…
I got a speeding ticket doing 75 in a 50 zone. There where vehicles all around my vehicle doing about the same speed. The road was 2 lanes in one direction and 2 lanes in the other direction. There was a vehicle beside mine, another behind that vehicle and a vehicle behind me, all moving above the…
Hi all,
Unfortunately I got a "Disobey Sign" ticket tonight in this weather for turning left at a no left turn intersection (Greenwood turning left onto O'Connor) and my question is if it is possible to fight this ticket successfully due to a variety of reasons.

lawmen wrote:You ticket was required to be issued in both French and English by the cop because the demerit points are a provincial matter. The province has guaranteed you services and procedures will be provided in both languages even if you don't speak both languages. It's not an option. My advice is that you do not respond to the ticket at all and file an appeal within 15 days of receiving the conviction notice. You will then argue that the ticket was defective on its face for not being in both languages and the Justice was required by law to quash the proceeding.
If you bring this information forward now, or request a trail to explain it, the court can fix it and you will be found guilty and a fine and points will be imposed, along with possibly higher insurance rates.
The only way to prevent the court from fixing a ticket with errors is to not respond to it at all.
The Provincial Offences Act articulates that laying a charge is a procedure under Part I and III.
The French Language Services Act guarantees you that all services and procedures will be provided in both French and English.

Definitions
1. In this Act,

"service" means any service or procedure that is provided to the public by a government agency or institution of the Legislature and includes all communications for the purpose.
Sorry to resurrect a dead post, but wouldn't the appeal judge just reopen the issue and request a french trial? I doubt that the error would be construed as a fatal error.
