I was in Manhattan and made a left turn from a one way street to a one way street. There were no left turn signs but i did not see them ( going up hill to the intersection) same as 15 other cars that were pulled over within a span of 10 minutes. Is this worth fighting, without having to go to the states?

I have a question re demerits and insurance. When do these appear? The day I get the ticket or when I pay it? I got a ticket with demerit points last week. If I make any changes to my insurance will they see it on my record before I pay/fight the fine?
