Video is my guess. Cruiser equipped with in car camera system. It won't record your speed, but the visual component and following interaction.

Did officer advised you were being audio / video recorded?

I would go to the first appearance and see what kind of a deal you will get, if it sucks, it likely won't, then I'd worry about getting a paralegal.

Re: Section 73(3) Colour coating obscuring interior

Here's my take on it...and as a LEO I write a ton of these.

If I have trouble seeing you so do others including anyone who wants to complain about your driving or perhaps a pedestrian / cyclist who's trying to ensure they've been seen by making eye contact.

No one wants an officer to miss seeing someone texting resulting in serious collision ...

Thank God for the Partridge. As an LEO I always lay the Careless. But I never get a court slip for trial. It always and I mean always gets negotiated down. I recommend early resolution and see what the offer is. Likely follow too close.

The Onrario Court of Appeal has upheld that sitting in console or cupholder is not securely mounted.

Your friend has not complied with his obligations under law.

Re: What are the possible defenses to failing to stop at the nearest curb for an emergency vehicle?

Notes are hard to decipher, every officer makes their own shorthand. Soundslike it took him forever to get you stopped then once he did, he exited his vehicle and you drove away causing him to cut you off and force you off the road. I'm flabbergasted how you did get fail to stop for police included...and with expired plates! Get a legal rep, this ...

THe whole purpose of a muffler is to minimize noise...think of it this way...imagine we are talking about farts...some people like the smell of their own farts, some might might even like the smell of others farts, but if we had fart laws, it would be to protect the overwhelming majority of people who hate farts smells...and while some think it's ...

You'll not likely get a better offer at Early Resolution...if an officer gave you a 15 over at the roadside you got the gift already...there's a reason 99% percent of people pay their 15 overs...

There is no duty to any motorist to not pull out in front of you...cooperative driving techniques and training will say there's nothing wrong with this...a driver pulling in front of you has no duty to your progress but to do so in a safe manner, I've read nothing that this was a dangerous maneuver and that it required to emergency brake to prevent ...

Re: Expired sticker ticket

Sounds like you are telling part of the story...

Yes police can impound / tow and unsafe vehicle, it's up to the officer to articulate why he/she believes vehicles unsafe per the regulations.

Your 'need' to drive the vehicle does not supercede your requirements to do so lawfully, including with a validation. If your plates are expired the officer ...

Re: Ticket for driving a friend's car with expired sticker

Insurance could care less that a validation was expired, doesn't make you a higher risk.

And you have a zero percent chance of winning in court, you could have checked it prior to driving it.

Having said that, your previous driving record might work in your favour and prosecutor might have some mercy, but not sure what you'd get it lowered to.

The manual are third party record, police don't own them and aren't required to disclose them.

You can contact the manufacturer but they won't help.

I've had several people try try this tactic unsuccessfully.

Don't forget if it was REDUCED you risk having the full speed reinstated when attending trial. That's more money and likely more demerit points. Usually when you get a reduced roadside, best advice is to just go pay it unless you can prove you weren't speeding...my 2 cents...

Re: Never, never, NEVER plead guilty to Careless!!!!!!!

As an intelligent police officer I'll explain the following: EVERY COLLISION INVOLVES A DEGREE OF CARELESSNESS by one or both drivers. I have never laid a careless to 'get more money' out of a driver, my salary is fixed at a certain level and I live very comfortably on it.

Careless is the easiest charge to prove, so I lay that charge and ALWAYS ...
