I would go to the first appearance and see what kind of a deal you will get, if it sucks, it likely won't, then I'd worry about getting a paralegal.

Here's my take on it...and as a LEO I write a ton of these.
If I have trouble seeing you so do others including anyone who wants to complain about your driving or perhaps a pedestrian / cyclist who's trying to ensure they've been seen by making eye contact.
No one wants an officer to miss seeing someone texting resulting in serious collision ...

Thank God for the Partridge. As an LEO I always lay the Careless. But I never get a court slip for trial. It always and I mean always gets negotiated down. I recommend early resolution and see what the offer is. Likely follow too close.

Notes are hard to decipher, every officer makes their own shorthand. Soundslike it took him forever to get you stopped then once he did, he exited his vehicle and you drove away causing him to cut you off and force you off the road. I'm flabbergasted how you did get fail to stop for police included...and with expired plates! Get a legal rep, this ...

THe whole purpose of a muffler is to minimize noise...think of it this way...imagine we are talking about farts...some people like the smell of their own farts, some might might even like the smell of others farts, but if we had fart laws, it would be to protect the overwhelming majority of people who hate farts smells...and while some think it's ...

Sounds like you are telling part of the story...

Insurance could care less that a validation was expired, doesn't make you a higher risk.
And you have a zero percent chance of winning in court, you could have checked it prior to driving it.
Having said that, your previous driving record might work in your favour and prosecutor might have some mercy, but not sure what you'd get it lowered to.

Don't forget if it was REDUCED you risk having the full speed reinstated when attending trial. That's more money and likely more demerit points. Usually when you get a reduced roadside, best advice is to just go pay it unless you can prove you weren't speeding...my 2 cents...

Re: Never, never, NEVER plead guilty to Careless!!!!!!!
As an intelligent police officer I'll explain the following: EVERY COLLISION INVOLVES A DEGREE OF CARELESSNESS by one or both drivers. I have never laid a careless to 'get more money' out of a driver, my salary is fixed at a certain level and I live very comfortably on it.
Careless is the easiest charge to prove, so I lay that charge and ALWAYS ...
