Just a side note related but not to this particular situation.
If stopped at a red light, and then a green arrow appears to turn left....no motor vehicle can make a turn to the right while the red is showing.
Just and FYI I don't think I would interpret it that way. Did you experience a ruling recently??

I think a warrant can force the phone companies to give up that information, like Bear describes above. But for a traffic accident? I hear that accident reconstruction isn't even called out unless there is a fatality - this seems like roughly the same amount of manpower, although the hours would be spent on paperwork instead of at the scene with a ...

I do not know.
Having said that, I think I remember something that one can not intercept communications for personal gain and/or prempt to committ a criminal offence. Such as using a scanner to know where police are to go do a B&E.

Early Morning Photo OPP B&W
Early morning sunrise and t-storm to the south.
Right place, right time and a clean car!!
If you look close enough, beside the drivers' side "A" pillar you will see a white circle = front antenna of Genesis radar......plus look above the dash pad...there is the Spectre RDD.

Re: How to stop a pursuit
If I remember correctly the highway was closed ahead due to a collision, and traffic was backed up. A wise choice in taking this car out to prevent serious bodiyl harm or death to those stopped a few km ahead. The camera person had been on the overpass filming a new report for the collision ahead and turned around to capture this footage. Good work ...

if I make an error on the PON...such as the fine amount, I just void the PON. I also check the PON the day of court to ensure it is proper on its face, if not I tell the prosecutor to have it withdrawn.

Hwybear i know this for a fact.
by law phone companies, internet companies keep a record of everything you do for criminal purposes.
I think for phone calls and e-mails in the states it is like 6 months or something.
And phone records are way easier.
The police would have no problem doing that.
All you would do is call them. You guys already ...

I assume he got a charge for following to close, careless driving etc?
Did the guy in front also get a charge for blocking traffic, driving in a passing lane, etc?.

You complain about speed enforcement and to concentrate on other aspects of the HTA, but you yourself are so fixated on speed that over 90% of your posts go off topic by mentioning it. Too ironic!

I can read most of it. Looks like the officer used something called a Genesis II (not sure if it is a radar or laser).
He used it from approx 200m. According to the notes there were no other vehicles insight. There were other vehicles but I'm guess its going to be his word against mine on that.

Notice of Licence Suspension is just that.....you were notified that your licence is suspended......no fine, nothing. If you drive from this point forward until the MTO re-instates the licence you could face huge fines etc.

I'll take the middle road. Was there a mistake, yes. Do we fire the officer, no. Quash the ticket, yes. Done and done. The officer needs some more training on writing down numbers.
The legal system is too complex for a simple answer and unfortunately that's what this should be, simple, bad ticky, no laundry.

When people wearing guns and badges made mistakes, look at what happened to the very citizen that they sworn to protect and serve.
The alleged offender has to scramble to fix the cop's mistake, what kind of a legal system is this?
The cop should be fired or the ticket should be quashed on the spot.

Interesting study...but they have a one liner in their summary:
"Further studies need to be conducted to analyze the overall effects of speed limit changes on accidents"
Has that further study happened yet? Maybe you can dig that out from where you got the above. Said it would take about 3yrs, study was in 2004.
