Yes, the lidar specifically tells the operator it is being jammed. (ie. on target, pull trigger, gets jammed, lidar tells operator it is being jammed, therefore operator also knows which vehicle has the jammer)
I do not see the Marksman being pulled out of use for a few more years, until there is a budget for replacement. My office has 1 Marksman ...

Re: Use of plate not authorized for vehicle
it is a very easy charge for police to obtain a conviction.
Stopped a motor vehicle and the plates were not authorized by the MTO to be on the vehicle at the time/date of the stop.

Re: Speeding 22km/h over the posted speed limit.
tdrive2 - how I appreciate some of the points you raise, however there are too many variables that are never touched on and raising speed would be devastating.
I would fully support a speed raise if the following were met:
- advanced driver training with a new class of licence required to be on the 400 series hwy
- mandatory medicals every year ...

Re: Bad Drivers?
Some day i would love to see officers devoting more time to other things like aggressive and careless drivers, enforcing lane discipline, inspecting unsafe trucks and loads, and some of those aggressive truck drivers.
Then give us proper traffic enforcement vehicles......I see loads of stuff in my own car, all of what you mention, get into my ...

Re: Bad Wreck down the road...
Transport going thru the median at whatever km/hr...add the vehicle speed the opposite way and then you have the speed of impact...BAM!!
I have seen several trucks go right thru the super duper concrete barriers.
Of course you need them in major cities, gov't still didn't plan the routes wide enough to start with, so there is not choice ...

I hate the concrete barriers.
If only the gov't did it correctly like hwy 11 up towards Huntsville, where the lanes are seperated by a good 75metres. It allows ample room to remove snow, debris off the highway. Allows emergency vehicles to get to scenes and calls for service more efficiently. Prevents rubbernecking as the distance allows nothing ...

Re: Fines - Laser Detectors & Laser Jammers
All those videos are "construed" on how you want the results......similiar to stats of whatever nature (ie who wants them and for what reason).
First the RDD has to be operating properly to start with. You have to have an incoming signal from a detector, all I saw was outgoing detector signals (away from a Spectre). Another RDD was not turned on ...

Re: Chatham and their stings
Of course 3-4 kms down the road I passed another 6 cops doing exactly the same thing. Really is Chatham that hard up for money?
It has nothing to do with money.
There are 2 bridges in Chatham-Kent dedicated towards 2 Chatham-Kent OPP officers that have been killed by vehicles striking them while stopped on highway 401.

... didn't see the car coming (gray car against a gray asphalt road) and drove through the intersection into the path of the unlucky guy in the car. He clipped the passenger side of the van (hard) and turned it over.

This is why I rarely reduce a speed anymore. More and more began to challenge a lowered ticket, even after I was nice and lowered it to no points.
