Bookm...yeah, I'll take your word for it...I obviously wasn't there/don't even know what intersection that is!
I do not think one has to worry about this charge. The only way I can see it is during a collision, where witnesses say the car turning left, spun the tires/squealled and then struck and opposing vehicle...IMHO.

Re: Speed limits
Its all about revenue. .
Plus something that no one yet can answer or step up to the plate about....
If it is a revenue/tax grab....and you can avoid it....why don't you?
If you do not do the offence there is no money out of your pocket, pretty simple!
Always see the sold out Air Canada Centre for various events....now that is a revenue ...

Re: Left Turn when light turns, before letting oncoming traffic
Why have you made that assumption? You are wrong. The"camara car" has no advance green.
You show a video and ask an opinion and got one, so I am not wrong with what information that I can retrieve out of the video. If you are saying I'm wrong I need more information to clarify as I do not see any. Maybe go there and sit there and have the video ...

Turning left "first":
Is this turn subject to impoundment??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emzpcyM-Juo
(Sorry for the really bad quality... I'm going to use high-res option from now on.)
Someone is smoking something to ask that question....the video has a designated left turn lane and turn signal which is also green AND the through traffic ...

Re: Penalties for speeding
Well, what can I say, if everyone does it this way - great.
Out of these 500 a day would you say that there's a possibility of 1 mistake?
Also, would you stop that poor guy at 124 on a hwy and write him a ticket??
My eyeball perception on speed....yes, once in awhile I'll have a brain fart.....but if you yourself just sit on the side of the road ...

You already told us the reason for the stop...the muffler!
- none of those infractions carry demerit points.
- your name could be amended in court, if the officer has the correct spelling in their notes, ask for disclosure
Every driver must surrender the permit and insurance upon demand, doesn't matter if it is your car, brother's car, rental ...

Re: Careless driving as well as parking, standing signs
To request a trial you have to appear in person - why? - jsut so you don't request a trial, cheaper to just pay the ticket.
More and more courts are doing this...thumbs up to them. There is so much wasted time for people just checking the "not guilty, trial option". Courts then have to process paperwork, issuing officer has to submit notes...for ...

a picture to show that he could not see the stop line from where he was sitting?
Can you return to the exact precise point with the same make and model cruiser and sit in the driver's seat at the same height, same height as the officer and view the location? There are so many variables in taking a picture from where you think the officer was and ...

Well at least that makes a lot more sense from your perspective. But at roadside I give honest people more breaks.
BTW, no such this a "reckless driving" you must be watching "cops" too much!

Re: Left Turn when light turns, before letting oncoming traffic
For these families, I'm sure no monetary penalty is much of a problem. But for for the REST of the province, it's bad.
Maybe that's another reason for the impound part? makes these others hurt as their ride is gone for 7 days? just a thought
It's funny to sit back and listen to friends just now starting to complain about the impound laws, and ...

Owning up
Haha...my turn for the question..
I grew up in a structured family where you tell the truth, own up to your mistakes and take the consequences and move on.
Why are people not being forthright with the truth and accepting responsibility for their actions? Does not show a very good example to their children either...

Re: More than 100 Cars Crash in a Chain Reaction on Highway 400
Not necessarily speed was the cause in any pileups.
Easy one here to figure out......Driver's failing to adjust their driving habits for the weather conditions.
Driving Habits - slowing down, following distance, driving the vehicle beyond your capability, driving faster than one can clearly see a safe distance to stop
I see this all the time ...

Re: Speed limits
The problem is that there is absolutely NO Driver training and the vehicles and highways have both improved. We all know that you can get a licence easily so, until that changes, we are stuck at the current limits. Top this off with "Reflections" comments.... eliminate cell phones, GPS, satellite radio, sunvisor mirrors, all the distractions and ...
