Re: HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!!!!!

Random question if you happen to see an officer on break at a coffee shop would they get upset or offended if you asked them questions lets say about the OHTA, they're opinion on it, their cars, jobs, technology, radar/lidar, etc?

There is a few tim hortons i go to and it is quite often to see HSD officers there. I usually see them in their car ...

Re: HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!!!!!

For this sort of a case, your best bet is to hire a proper lawyer.

I would not do that.....get a paralegal.....rarely are actual lawyers in traffic court (to what I have seen) and most lawyers "sub" out the work to a paralegal. Paralegals are there all the time, are up to date on cases etc......unless of course you can find a lawyer specific for ...

I know 'bear, normal speed of traffic means the speed limit, but still.....we need a rewrite.

I agree we need a rewrite. Something like "Fail to drive in right hand lane, except while actively passing" or "Driver failing to move right for motor vehicle approaching from rear at greater speed"

Then think would have to take out speed altogther ...

Re: 186 km/hr on the Gardiner

Public servants caught breaking the law on taxpayer's time and with taxpayer's gear should be put under closer scrutiny.
Now if a cop got nailed in a personal vehicle, on his/her own time, he/she shouldn't be put under any extra scrutiny even though there is considerable pressure to put more scrutiny on people who enforce the laws when they break ...

Re: Bad Drivers?

I teach my kids manners at the dinner table. I teach them to open doors for others. They say please and thank you, and they try their best to put others needs ahead of their own. I fully expect these same characteristics to play out on the open road when they get their licenses and start driving.

Bingo!! That is where it has to start. Good Work ...

I do not think Canada should get involved with anything outside our borders involving courts/justice.

I also do not think Canadian should spend a dime outside our borders until every last citizen here has a roof over their head, food, water, treatment facilities for health etc...and finally settle all the land claim issues.

Bring our military ...

Only the car itself is replaced.

Everything is gutted out (emergency lights, siren, push bumpers, cages, first aid kit, shovel, flares, radio system, radar, spectre, computer mounts etc...) and put on a new car.

Re: Suspicious car on the street

It sounds like a "PI" (maybe there is insurance fraud, workers comp fraud thing), but if the vehicle is that noticeable, that does not make sense.

Someone could be "casing" the neighbourhood, watching patterns of people to then go do a B&E.

Call Peel and have a unit slide by to check this vehicle and it's purpose for being there.

Re: 142km on 401 going west, near 401 exit to Homer Watson Blvd

My car is a 2009 vw, the plate lights are fully functioning and the plates are clean. I just washed the car 2 days before the incident.

Couldn't police just lite their lights? I would pull over immediately if I see those behind me, then the officers would have more than enough time to check my plates after I stopped my car.

Our safety is first ...

They will go to court and the officers will be there, if the officer is in court he is not on the road.

Whether I am on the road or in court I still get paid, does not matter to me.

Re: Pulling over a group of bikes

On a single lane hwy, I can understand your post and moving back in. On a multilane and the officer hits the lights behind the group, it is for the group, if rear slows and pulls over, the officer moves up stops the next etc....they are all required to stop. If the officer wanted the 2nd or lead vehicle, they would pull in behind that one on the ...

That could go either way....I don't know.

If it still is smooth with the surface, can not forsee a problem...Not like it is a mohawk thing where should you fall off and slide, the hawk part could get caught in a road drain and snap your neck....but by then you are already "up the creek"

Drinking/Driving - Suspension Increased

Just an FYI, Effective MAY 01, 2009

A driver that registers a WARN on an Approved Screening Device will have their licence suspended for:
1st offence = 3 days
2nd offence = 7 days
3rd offence = 30 days.

The licence is returned to the MTO and the driver MUST go to the MTO to be reinstated.

Yes, the lidar specifically tells the operator it is being jammed. (ie. on target, pull trigger, gets jammed, lidar tells operator it is being jammed, therefore operator also knows which vehicle has the jammer)

Re: Pulling over a group of bikes

kind of a catch 22.....did the officer write down the plate? too many variables. Did the officer comes up beside, has lights on and points you to the shoulder, that would be a different story and more than likely has recorded your plate on the dash pad. Did the officer get out of the cruiser and try to wave the MC back to the pack?

Prior to riding ...

If I get this correctly you are a QC licence holder and have a MV plated Ontario. The ownership has a driver's licence # associated to you as you previously lived in Ontario and the officer used the Ontario #.

Every person who lives in Ontario OR has lived in Ontario OR has been convicted in Ontario will have their own personal driver's licence ...
