what is the fine and demerit points for overcrowding your car, for e.g driving with 10 people in a 7 passenger van.

$110 and no points......however, pending on the age of the occupants 3 seatbelt tickets which = $110 each and 2 points. Plus can not permit the vehicle to continue down the road in violation.....so possible cab fare?? then toss in officer discretion, pending the reason for that many ppl in there

a follow up question what if the said van gets in an accident and it takes a while for the cops to get to the scene and the driver lies about the number of occupants in the van and says there were only 7 in the car, and at a later date this information is disclosed, for eg. in a court hearing for insurance matters, can the driver be charged then, for eg falsifying police report etc.
