Is there a legal requirement to report an accident to the insurer?
Scenario
- 2 vehicle accident
- each vehicle has less than $1000 damage
- each vehicle has damage roughly equal to insurance deductible
- a police Accident Report was completed
In this scenario the drivers decided to repair their own damages. But are they legally bound to report ...

Re: Legal requirement to report accident to Insurer?
According to the Insurance Act, if you're planning on filing a claim, you have seven days from the time of the incident to report it. If not, no report is required UNLESS the insurance policy says "you must report all damage or collisions." That's rare, though. Check your policy.

I was charged 2 days ago with RED LIGHT - FAIL TO STOP and fined $150 and I guess 3 points. I was driving turning left on the intersection with a traffic light, and did it when the light just turned to orange and I didn't have enough time to stop. Once I turned I saw the light turned to red and 2seconds later I saw a police beacon flashing through ...

Long story short, I was in the court today, the JP sentensed me guilty as charged, despite the fact that the sign is INVISIBLE from 60 metres in Summer ( I have shown the pictures that I took) where there are lots of tree brances and leaves, while the law says the signs have to be visible AT ALL TIMES from 60 metres. {If it does go to trial, this is what I'd suggest: Keep a copy of the section you were charged under. You'll get to cross-examine the officer. Ask him to describe where the other traffic was, what you did, etc. Basically you want him to state that there was no traffic for you to yield to, and the road to your right was closed. At that point, read ...

Every ticket issued in Ontario that carries a set fine is invalid.
POA s. 8 allows you to settle out of court by paying the set fine.
However, the ticket you were issued informs you that you must pay the total payable.
The total payable includes two additional fines.
One for court costs and one for a victim surcharge.

The truck should not have been towed.
The driver's insurance would cover him unless he had some other clause.
By him I mean "him"
His insurance will-not cover the other truck.Unless he called his agent
and set it up.(usually they will give you 3-5 days grace)
You don't get a slip it is just a rider to his insurance.
And Yes they can follow onto ...

When charges get withdrawn as officer has "no evidence" it usually means that police officer did not have sufficent evidence for the prosecutor to proceed with your matter.
An example: officer did not make any notes re: the offence and does not recall important particulars.

I don't think you need to signal if you are in a lane that clearly indicates it is a turn lane. (what else would you be doing?)
You could be going straight (if the road allows) or wanting to merge back into a through-lane.
Or you could be one of bookm's co-stars and be looking to pull a turn across all lanes of traffic.
