Re: 180km/h in a 100km/h zone

Same make/models would have the same top end speed govenor put on by the factory, so one engine gets there faster, but they would both get there.

Whether 2,3,4, 5 lanes an option is still is to take your foot off the accelerator, let the vehicle momentum slow down, once at speed limit if need be, put on signal to go onto shoulder. Then let ...

Re: 180km/h in a 100km/h zone

The officer probably already had your speed at 140ish, caught up and got close enough to read the plate to call it in prior to stop (officer safety) while doing, so your vehicle accelerated higher. So officer continues to follow and obtain higher speed readings.

Re: School Bus lets my kids out at a 4 way stop sign

Here's my take....N/S traffic is controlled by the school bus lights. The N/S traffic facing the bus can still legalling turn left or right after complying with the stop sign. E/W traffic is unaffected by the bus, unless they turn towards the bus which they should stop. But flip the coin (for E/W turning) it is not reasonable as the bus is so close ...

Re: question for insiders re prosecutors and their witnesses

It is not a good idea.

Like OPS said the DA will get a adjournment and you will get no deals.

So you agree with OPS, but can you elaborate on why getting an adjournment is necessarily bad? As I pointed out, a reschedule could be used towards an 11b argument, no? And once again, I ask, will the DA always get an adjournment?

I'm not up on the ...

think if the cruiser is parked at the 3rd tree/driveway area, proper stopping area is very visible. Farther back with the 3rd tree in the photo, it appears tree 2 might block the area slightly. That is just based on what your photos show and in no way can I confirm what the particular officer saw. You will have to ask where the officer was, other ...

The one photo did not show up. (last one)

Which direction is your vehicle travelling? (across the picture right to left) or with the picture.

Just from that I can easily identified the post (i believe is for the stop sign for the right to left traffic), obviously never been at that spot. If I was there I would indicate in notes where the stop ...

most prosecutors know each officer, a quick glance at officers and they know who is there and not.
- could also be a note on their desk that officer "X" called in sick today and officer "Y" is at criminal court, so not available for traffic court

Does not matter what type of radar/lidar the police are using.

If (radar/lidar) is being used properly, no detector made will notify the operator of the police, until it is too late.

Nor will a detector notify the driver of the plane circling overhead 8)

Re: Question about accuracy of Aerial Surveillance in Court

the 0.3 is inaccurate as this is human reaction time to a "unknown".

As I have posted a prior link to a website that will give you a reaction time in "milliseconds", not 10ths of a second (ie: 0.3). However the web link is also flawed somewhat. There is a "known" change of screen coming, but uncertain when that known is coming.

Now take the same ...

Re: URGENT!what is Genesis VIP:II ? expert, please help!!!

The officer probably did not mess up what he/she was using. Each individual officer uses their own coding (short form) in their notes. So simply ask for clarification on what make/model was used and the manual for said device. Further, the notes only need contain enough info for the officer to remember the incident.

The "Begins" part does not ...

Re: URGENT!what is Genesis VIP:II ? expert, please help!!!

Sounds like it was genesis VPD. That is the device mounted in the police cruiser. This device could be used while stationary and in motion as well.

The Genesis VPD is a handheld radar, NOT mounted in a cruiser.

What doesn't help is the original post containing a variety of "guesses" of what radar was being used, mixing several different types ...

b/c there are no reporting centres in my area, where does the 48hrs come from? I have not found this timeline anywhere in the HTA. Thought it was still soon as practicable as a collision reporting centre was to free up traffic from unnecessary blockages by damaged vehicles?

Thanks for pointing out the 4 signs but I don't agree with you that the posted signs are for Hwy exiting traffic. The two one way arrows are for the Eglinton east and westbound drivers, so that the don't enter the exit ramp - that's the use of one way signs.

Just google mapped this intersection....there is painted arrows on 2 lanes to go left, and the other lane arrow painted to go right x 2. PLUS there is a sign posted with the same lane indicators as the painted arrows x 2. Totalling 4 notifications per lane indicating specifically a left or right turn.

Which way was the truck and other car were going in relation to your vehicle? (If you could explain it such as you were headed north, truck was headed south turning east) Plus add on the interserction, a lot of posters use google to see the intersection to understand the layout to assist you.

Re: failed tosurrender vehicle permit ticket

The dealer would not have the whole permit attached/behind the plate. The portion with the plate would be the "plate permit", which is 1/2 the ownership required to produce to police. The other 1/2 is the vehicle permit.

Everytime you use/borrow any vehicle/trailer that is not yours ask for the complete permit. A photocopy will suffice.

there is already margin given....
Now the benefit to the driver is:
1) that every speed is always rounded down and the speed is an average over a complete 500m.

Re: Question about accuracy of Aerial Surveillance in Court

Also, to calculate speed over 500m, simply divide 1800 by the time (500m x 3600 seconds/hr divided by 1km/1000m). So say for example, you time a car going 12.4 seconds between hash marks. That car is travelling at 145km/h.

Now, some will say if the average human reaction time is .3 seconds, then that could be as little as 12.1 sec. (148.7km/hr ...
