Re: A few questions about highway incidents
There is a definition for a collision to be "reportable", which means it has to be reported to the police. One of the following has to occur:
- injury of any kind
-damage over $1000 (cracked bumper is over....fender ding possibly)
- any property damage (strike a post, tree, mailbox etc.. and even tire grooves in someone's lawn)

Re: An absolute nightmare
Whether a paralegal or lawyer, you would require one that actually does HTA offences more than once a month/year. They need to be in the swing of things daily to keep up with the fast paced changing laws and case law. Same as other areas of defence, that is why you see 99% of them specialize in an particular area, to be the best in that aspect ...

Re: An absolute nightmare
.The real kicker is there were no witnesses. Well, there was one. A very nice lady who got to my car first after the accident.
If this person did not stay around by the time police got there that would hinder obtaining a name or even a statement from this witness. I have seen it many a times, ask for witnesses and *poof* people vanish and other ...

Offences stay on your record for life.
You lose demerit points after 2 years from offence date.

Re: FAILURE TO APPLY BECOMING OWNER?NO INSURANCE
You can tell the prosecutor that you have taken steps to rectify the situation:
- produce proper ownership to him/her
- produce full insurance contract for said vehicle (not pink insurance card, might think you are trying to pull wool over his/her eyes)
I have seen prosecutors ask for reduced fines and or withdraw the charge, however it is still ...

Re: Open Alcohol In Car
Viper1 - that is an unique situation, it was an afterhour party raid - I will speculate that the crown saw all the charges and rather than prosecute all the little ones (such as yours) they added that much more of a penailty onto the owner/organizer of the event....in other words the instigator got the extra!

Re: Red light camera photographs
Do you know from any experience if the JP can issue demerit points if you fight and lose? It is my understanding that those cannot be issued with camera ticket claims, but I would put anything past these guys.
Points have nothing to do with courts.

I am not technical type, however do know some stuff and was just giving you a kind "heads-up" for whatever your decision is with information that you might need (ie: car is not heavier than a standard pickup, distances travelled at certain speeds and stopping distances)
Switching measurements in court would also be a bad idea if you want the JP ...

Re: seize your car for 7 days..Watch out suspended drivers.
should add in an impoundment for insurance offences.
expired card = vehicle is impounded until proof is faxed to police from the insurance company
or have insurance directly linked to MTO for proof
then NO insurance and vehicle is impounded for 30days.
