Because your average driver doesn't know all that much about demerit points.
If you ask a random person, they tend to think demerit points sit on their record for life waiting to be accumulated or that their insurance provider is also keeping tabs on their points.
Demerit points last 2 years from the day you were given your ticket. Until you're ...

Re: Two Parking Infractions - Help
Disclosure requests typically aren't mailed out anymore. 10 years ago maybe. They are to be made available to you, but they don't have to leave it on your doorstep. Are phone numbers required on a request? There's no rule saying it is. However, simply leaving an address is lacking. They will probably want to let you know your package is ready ...

Re: Sec 182 (2) - Disobey Sign (Prohibted Turn)
This is a subject that gets brought up quite frequently on these forums.
That situation being, multiple signs saying the same thing and an issue with one particular sign.
In problem areas, it's not uncommon for a municipality to put up multiple signs warning of the same thing. In most cases, one or more of those signs might not even be properly ...

I don't believe these go away.
What you received was an administrative suspension.
It does not require a trial or a conviction. "Well, I have the right to a trial" is usually the first response . Short answer, the courts have decided that driving is a privilege and not a right. That means that administrative suspensions are fine and dandy ...

Re: Pedestrian Disobey Red Light
It should not, but sometimes it's a problem. This is especially the case for bicycles.
The only time this ever becomes an issue is when the officer doesn't make a distinction between whether or not a motor vehicle is used.
It happens with bicycles quite a bit where someone pays a ticket and then gets a shock later on when they have demerit points ...

Re: Disobey sign HTA 182(2)
If you're looking to challenge the charge, you can start by requesting a trial. From there you can make a disclosure request and see some of the evidence against you. Almost all municipal websites will have information on where to submit your request and they'll most likely have a generic form for your convenience. I believe Mississauga has an ...

You were charged on October 18th, 2017. You sent in your disclosure request when you received your Notice of Trial on December 4th. You followed up on December 13. Your trial date is January 31st, 2017.

Re: Early Resolution vs. pay Paralegal
If your goal is to simply receive a reduction, save your money and do it yourself. You're in a position where a paralegal isn't necessary.

Re: Careless Driving Ticket Advice
In terms of insurance, careless driving considered top tier of driving charges. Pretty much worst of the worst. 100% increase on insurance and you run the risk of being booted.
At the very least you should try to see if they are willing to offer a lesser charge.

Re: Failure to stop at allway stop sign
Probably at worst, the registered owner of the vehicle will get a letter warning that someone reported your driving. It wouldn't be enough to witness a car drive through a stop sign. For this particular charge, the driver would need to be identified.

Be aware how reciprocal agreements work in your state.marnow wrote:Good! 65/50 fine, 0 points.
For example, Ontario will take a charge from another province or state and treat it as if it took place here.
That means whatever is 0 points here may not be in your state. I believe any speeding charge in Michigan carries points.

Re: Questionable 80/50 & more....
Argyll is 100% correct, so i'm not sure why you've taken offense to the answer you were given.
Speeding is called an absolute liability offense in Ontario. That means you were either speeding or you weren't. Either you were doing 50 or you weren't. There's no " I was speeding, but....".
I was not speeding....I was clocked just after the sign ...

He wants to dispute it based on extenuating circumstances. He's only ever fought one ticket many years ago.
Thoughts on that?
There's the type of situation where medical assistance is required and the type where you don't want to walk an additional 50 feet. One they'd take into consideration, the other will most likely go in one ear and out ...
