HTA Section 32 (1) and HTA Section 13 (2) Driving with an expired license and faded license plate

Unread post by Franny »

Hello,

I was given two tickets recently. The violations are Driving with an improper license and driving with a license plate that is not visible. My license plate had completely peeled off and I did not have it replaced. I honestly kept putting it off. When I provided my license, the officer said that my driver's license was expired. I explained to him that I did not know. I had anticipated a reminder letter in the mail. I did not know that they had stopped this. I have been charged $110 and $325 respectively. This is quite steep for me. I do have an Early Resolution meeting next Tuesday. I am wondering if it would be possible to ask for a lower fine. Would this affect my insurance?

First step is to renew your drivers licence and replace your plates before the early resolution. Bring proof with you to the meeting. They may drop one and lower the other.
