Last night I received a $375 parking ticket for parking in a handicapped parking spot. I have 2 children- my youngest has a physical disability and my eldest child has a mental disability. I have had a handicapped parking permit since my youngest child was 2 years old, however, it expired 4 days ago. I didn't know that it had expired, or I would have asked for a renewal from my doctor. I did not receive a notice from the government. Obviously, the officer who ticketed me saw that my permit had only recently expired, but he still chose to give me this outrageously expensive ticket. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fight this? This occurred in London, Ontario. I am not in a financial position to pay this ticket and I feel that it would have been more appropriate for the officer to give me a warning that my permit had expired. Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions! ![]()

Are you able to get it renewed asap?
If you can show you have it updated you may have a good chance have it dropped.

The cop was using hand held radar,…

Hi, last summer I was pulled over when I made a left turn from he middle lane at Harbor and Yonge Street (heading east on the Gardiner and taking the Yonge exit). I swear they nabbed about 10 people in 5 minutes. Anyways, I decided to challenge in court, my court date is in April and I have just…
How To Fight A No Seatbelt Ticket
The key ruling on fighting a seatbelt ticket is R. v. Kanda, 2008 and an example of it's application is R. v. Gupta, 2008.
In Kanda, the court established that this offence is a strict liability charge. In other words, you can offer a defence of due diligence. In Kanda the defendant explained the…
