This morning on my way to work I made a right hand turn that is prohibited between certain hours. I was aware that the turn was not allowed but did it anyways as I was going to be late to work. The police were down the street pulling people over and ticketing for this. This specific street has many people cutting across it each morning and residents had complained. The police gave me my ticket and I went on my way. I assumed it was just a $110 fine until I googled the offense. 2 demerit points? Brutal! The amount of the fine does not bother me but the idea of losing points does. I am a 22 year old female with one other minor offense that will be forgiven in 6 months, I dont think I can afford to have 2 more demerits. Do you think that I could have this ticket reduced to something with no demerit points? This seems very extreme considering the circumstance. Any suggestions appreciated.

You could seek a plea deal to a lesser offence that doesn't carry any demerit points or fight the charge outright and hope you're found not guilty (probably not likely). Don't get too focused on demerit points though unless you're about to lose your licence because of them. Insurance providers go by convictions, not points.

Those no right turns are a pain. If you just want to delay it six months select option 3. You will have to attend court and talk to crown. Likely you will get it a bit reduced to cover your parking. Maybe a bylaw and no points. worth the six months wait. Cheers Viper1

My wife was given a ticket for not stopping a red light, but, actually it was still amber when she crossed the intersection from the off ramp w/b 401 at Leslie St. Toronto.
She was going/turning s/b to Leslie St. and it was very clear to her that it was still amber and she was under the situation where if she tried to stop on the stop line, she will end up stopping in the middle of the…
If anyone can answer this I would greatly appreciate it.
Friday morning I checked my mail and received a letter from the MTO stating that under section 47(1) of the HTA the Registrar of Motor Vehicles has decided to suspend my driving privilege for medical reasons. This was due to a report submitted by a physician in compliance with section 203 of the HTA. Enclosed with that letter were forms to…
So I got busted for driving 10 over the speed limit.
I don't deny it. I was excited to bring the kids to my mother in law, so I laid the pedal 1.4mm closer to the floor than I normally do.
In any event, I got busted and would rather not use up my family's "ticket forgiveness" clause on our insurance for something so stupid. I have a pristine abstract and would like to keep it that way.
I have a question about length of time to lay charges after accident.
Heres the story.
I friends son was in an accident 89 day ago from today. He was was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control left the road and wrapped the car around a tree. Somehow he survived. Anyway the officers showed up at the parents house to notify them and take them to hospital to see how he was. They were…
I'm unsure on what to do here. I was under the impression that I could request a stay on the day of trial because disclosure was not given to me in an adequate time. I requested disclosure 2x by fax, 5 months ago.
I read on ticketcombat that I had to file a motion 15 days prior to the trial to request a stay of proceedings.
I am new to this forum and before making this post I did some digging and was unable to find anything on this method of officer note taking.
A little back ground of my case:
charged with 25km/h over the posted limit.
After numerous disclosure requests, finally received a detailed disclosure including several pages of the lidar manual and typed officer notes describing the events of my…
Hello everyone, I run a volunteer response service and recently partnered with a patient transfer/event medical company. I occasionally come upon accidents and in-lane break downs and was told my unit can run reds (only when stopped) to bring attention for safety. Currently I only run amber/white on unit marked rear and sides with service crest. Local police are fully aware of what we do and we…
I have always stopped at a stop sign. This was my first time EVER and I feel this horrible guilt.
It was on Jan 12, it was a snowy day that day I was just exiting the highway getting off the ramp. About to make a right turn the road was slippery I looked left to check for cars and my car slipped out a bit and since my car was out on the road and a car was approaching I had to accelerate to avoid…
So a couple of days ago I was pulled over on 401 for doing 130. It was pitch black and after I passed a couple of cars I was going to get into the right lane and slow down, but right that moment one of the cars I passed pop up behind me and flashed the lights. Officer told me I passed him doing 130.
Now I don't know if he even used the radar, because as far…
I have read a very large number of posts. Some indicating a direction, some contradicting said direction...So I thought I would post my questions and see what I get for answers...
On Oct 17th got nailed doing 34km over, on my way to my wedding no less.
I was nabbed by an aircraft on Hwy 17e in Renfrew. Either way, issuing Officer said he couldn't do anything in the way of leniency because it was…
I got ticket for allegedly not stopping at the stop sign on March 5 in one of the roads of Brampton. Then I started reading the blogs and all the information available to dispute the ticket, as I am not guilty of the offense. After reading I decided not to pay the fine and go to the first appearance with the prosecutor. I got the appointment this morning and started the negotiation with the…
I was right behind a school bus that looked like it was pulling over to the side in order to turn down a side street, I saw no lights so decided to go around (wide street). Was still moving as I was passing, then as I did pass I heard horn and looked back and in fact it was pulling over to p/u school kids (was a block away from my son's school, so just assumed it wouldn't be picking up kids...it…
Hi there. Back in October 2019, I received a ticket for driving while holding my cellphone (ticket states "drive, handheld device"). I was using voice to text while my phone was in the centre console but when I approached the red light, it wasn't capturing my voice so I lifted my phone so the speaker could hear my voice.
Anyway, I opted for an early resolution meeting because I honestly cannot…
Havent paid any fees yet and still have time to do so. Because of my work there is an absolute need to use the car for at least another month plus I'm getting my G license test in 2 weeks..anyway to delay the suspension? Thanks!
I lost 2 points two years ago for unsafe right turn and now 4 points for speeding, totaled 6 points. Which I SHOULD be called to an interview to explain my situation and…
I am doing some independent research on Bill 117 and heard that there already is a piece of legislation where a motorcycle passenger has to be able to reach the pegs. A search of the HTA yielded no results for me. Does anyone know the specific act/section in question?
I was under the impression that "special powers, of vehicle and license suspension, towing etc." were granted by a MUST DO type clause.
For instance, .05 blood alcohol reading, requires / Mandated, vehicle/license 3 day suspension ... and police are given power to do this, by stating they MUST do it.
After speaking some people, I have discovered quite…
This may be unusual, but I'd like to know what I should have done in the following situation:
My family used a taxi service recently and our inattentive driver failed to stop at a stop sign which nearly resulted in a collision with another vehicle backing out of their driveway on the far right of the intersection. My husband filed a complaint against the driver and the company defended him by…
I received a ticket for driving 126 in a 90. I honestly didn't really realize I was travelling that fast, I was driving a rental car and it didn't feel like I was moving that fast and I was also coming down a hill at the time the officer got the speed.
The officer was travelling towards me on the opposite side behind two other cars. Can that affect the accuracy of the radar at all?
Don't want to post dashcam out in the open but will gladly PM you a link... Basically what happened was I was driving with some distance between cars then the car floors the brake (I stop) and then does it again a little while later (I hit the car).
Got issued with a ticket for following too close but honestly I feel like I got insurance scammed...
Would anyone be willing to watch my dashcam videos?
- Was stopped on Feb 14, 2013 and told I'd be given a summons for careless driving. Was passing 2 cars on a winter night when it was snowing. Trafalgar Road heading southbound just north of Steeles,. Only two lanes our lane and oncoming traffic . Passed 2 cars one was a cop.
- Snowing. The road itself was clear, just wet from snow, but there was slush on the…
