I also had my license set for renewal in a month but he didnt insist on the detail. What course of action is recommended to reduce the fine/lower the demerit points? Should I go for early resolution or simply select the trial option?

If your goal is to just get a reduction, you can do either or. In my opinion, i'd just schedule a trial and put some more space in between the 2 tickets
