Just wondering what you guys think of those HOV lanes.
Sure these lanes are faster then usual but i think they present a ton of problems, now the first thing i want to clear up is often we say speed is dangerous. Okay i can believe that depending on the context and situation its used in. But i think…
I heard somewhere that flashing your lights (i.e. clicking your high beams on and off) to warm drivers in the opposite direction of a speed trap is a violation of the highway traffic act.
Is this true ?
I was watching motoring 200X and they spoke about this, and accorinding to them, it is NOT illegal…
Mid July 2012 I was hit at 6pm by a drunk driver. That's when my hubby decided to tell me that he didn't take care of the insurance as he was supposed to. So, I got charged with driving without insurance. Car is in my name.
Inuries were minor - all of us had aches/pains, hubby had seatbelt burn…
Hello I'd like to start by saying what a great site this is!
Back on July 31 2011 me and 7 other friends received speeding tickets for 148km in a 100km zone on motocycles. I received my disclosure on March 2nd and court is on March 14. which isnt alot of time to prepare
I got a speeding ticket doing 75 in a 50 zone. There where vehicles all around my vehicle doing about the same speed. The road was 2 lanes in one direction and 2 lanes in the other direction. There was a vehicle beside mine, another behind that vehicle and a vehicle behind me, all moving above the…
Unfortunately I got a "Disobey Sign" ticket tonight in this weather for turning left at a no left turn intersection (Greenwood turning left onto O'Connor) and my question is if it is possible to fight this ticket successfully due to a variety of reasons.
I have my trial coming up this week for speeding (85 in a 60km/h zone in Ontario) and need to get an adjournment. What can I tell the justice of the peace to qualify for an adjournment? Please note that I put in a request for full disclosure (radar device manufacturing date, tuning forks' calibration certificate, officer's training certificate in addition to the his notes that were already provided to me) and the prosecutor didn't reply. I served the attorneys general of Ontario and Canada and informed them of my intention of putting in a pretrial motion for a stay. In case if they don't grant me a stay, what can I say to get an adjournment?
You will likely not be able to get a stay. You will likely be given an adjournment if the prosecutor has failed to provide you with disclosure. The adjournment will give the prosecutor time to provide you with the disclosure and for you to review it to formulate a proper defence.
Have you followed up with the prosecutor since your initial disclosure request? Did you provide a phone number on your disclosure request? Did you keep a record of you serving the disclosure request (i.e. fax receipt, registered mail) as well as a record of you serving the attorneys general?
Except for the officers notes, you won't get any of those disclosure items from the prosecutor. The only thing else you will get would be a copy of the device testing instructions.

Generally disclosure will not be sent to you. It is your responsibility to pick up the disclosure package from the Prosecutors Office. If you have not already done so, you may wish to contact the Prosecutor's Office to see if your disclosure package has already been prepared and is simply waiting for you to pick it up. If not, you will want to ensure that your disclosure request was properly served (ie. correct email address or fax number) and make a second request.
