Re: Prosecutor appealing my dismissal

Great ideas....plus we jointly re-write the HTA to make sense

- In addition to a "pay tickets" website, create a "fight tickets" website so paperwork only needs to be filed on-line

Only point I disagree with is the above and it is not the ease of challenging the offence. There has to be some penalty, say $250-500 added to the fine for a "no ...

Re: Improper Left turn 141(6)

ok so here is what happened.. I was at an intersection-waiting for light to turn green-too late I realised I really had to go left, and I was in the going straight lane - so I signalled to the driver who was already on the left lane, made eye contact, got his permission, and sucessfully entered his lane-with his permission - due to this I got ...

Re: Disobey Sign HTA 182 (2) - Municipality of Toronto

I got a fine around 5:30pm yesterday for turning left where there was a sign prohibiting left turns between 4-6pm. I take that turn every morning, so it never crossed my mind what time it was. I had 2 hungry babies in the car with me and all I wanted was to get them home. So I guess I'm guilty, it doesn't matter what the explanation is, but is ...

Re: Left turn

you have automatic 14 day coverage on a new vehicle that you purchase, if you already had another veh insured at that time.

rather than just stating that......show us all where this is writing (a link will do) and that it covers every insurance company.......

To help out: my wife and many of her friends are licensed brokers.

She lead me to ...

The last time I went to court I thought she was going to cry (the cop)
when the prosecutor said officer present. "no evidence"

Re: failing to obey sign part 2!!!

So i posted about my ticket on a no right turn earlier in the month. In that post it is pretty clear by google street view that the sign is not visible from 60m. I went to look at the sign and take some photos but the sign has been removed. What does this mean fro me? Is there any way I can find out why it was removed? Depending on the reason ...

Re: Two tickets and court, newb needs advice

I got my first ticket(s) in 15 years, for a rolling stop of the Gardiner West ramp at Yonge, by a whole bunch of cruisers under the bridge pegging off people 1 by 1. I didn't have my wallet, so 1 ticket no licence surrendered, 1 ticket fail to stop.

1)Should I use a professional rep in court? or
2) My natural thought would be to pay the no ...

Re: We're not unfairly complaining about congestion

A 1998 Buick will go 750 km on a tank at 140 kph and 600 km at 100 kph

Typo??

Mileage is always better at 100 as opposed to 120......air resistance is a exponential same as braking......different cars will get their best mileage at different speeds....the limit is irrelavent anyway. Take a trip in the morning, 5:30-6:00 am and check the speeds ...

Re: We're not unfairly complaining about congestion

My 2 cents

A 1998 Buick will go 750 km on a tank at 140 kph and 600 km at 100 kph

!5 liter saving.

I think the on ramp problems are from new drivers who think the yellow/black speed signs are the limit.(so they speed up to 60 on the ramp and find highway speed after they enter it).

My KPL test was done with a 3800 v6 engine that had 400,000 km ...

Re: Just received my disclosure in the mail.

Ok, but I bet after at least two trial dates (the cop stuck in court for 2 mornings) and being bothered for disclosure over a $20 parking fine they damn well won't give me a future ticket that I don't deserve!

It's really not about the $20. Maybe I'll lose the trial and be found guilty... I don't care. But there is no way in hell that I'll ever ...

A lot of times if they see that you have a big file (or pile of papers) they just drop the charge.

My Case (officer present no evidence)

Geet out of here.

Re: Should this driver be charged with Careless Driving?

Actually careless driving is possibly the easiest charge in the HTA to prove.

Really? Of all the cases I've seen, careless is usually the one that gets the highest number of acquittals/withdrawals/reduced. How many of the people you charged (rough estimate) got professional help with their case?

Same goes for careless but careless is more of ...

Details:

Driving onto ramp entering a major highway, posted limit is 100km/h, suggested ramp limit is 40km/h - I end up colliding with the concrete barrier on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Police arrive, suspect alcohol and breathalyze me with a result of 0.00 - I am asked for a statement and cautioned, however (stupidly) I proceed to ...

Re: Defense tactics

I find the discussions on these boards fascinating. I am curious about a situation that a friend of mine is encountering.

How would a JP view the admission of guilt of something that a person was not charged with? If the Prosecutor argues that a person "ran a red light" but you were not specifically charged with running a red light? Officer never ...
