ANOTHER quick question.. My girlfriends dad knows a lot of high up OPP people apparently so on first hearing of what happened he was quick to tell me that he would "take care of it" and he would look into getting it dropped.. IS this possible? If yes, how?
That could be considered "obstruct justice" and I do not think any officer would want to ...

Re: G2 BAC Above Zero
ah ha ... just found the answer
ADLS (3, 7, 30 and 90day) are not to be used against the person to raise the insurance rates.
All other suspensions will be used

And the MTO will not charge a reinstatement fee

Re: Right turn Only Lane (Kennedy and Ellesmere)
I was on heading southbound on Kennedy towards Ellesmere and there are 3 lanes. Left turn, centre, and right turn lane. There was a sign posted with a right turn arrow, but that was posted almost 50 yards before the turn.. There is no visible sign where the turn is.
There are 4 lanes SB on Kennedy at this location
- designated left turn lane

Re: Exceeding Speed Limit to Pass - isn't it allowed?
guess the person did not realize it was a cruiser in front of him
Did he need "POLICE" written bigger on the back of the car? Or maybe the large light deck on the roof might've been another clue.
oops...unmarked cruiser, but was still a Crown Vic, 2 antennas, light bar across back window, "bumble bee" sticker (should have seen that the driver ...

Re: Court of Appeal sets things right on traffic offences
The person is an adult and there will be no personal phone call to home, friend etc... except when they are ready to be released from custody
The person can name a lawyer and I will call the lawyer, OR duty counsel will be called.
If they wanted a lawyer the parents used, I would personally call the parent and ask what lawyer they use, hang up ...

Re: G2 BAC Above Zero
Also, older convictions do not show up on your licence history when a police officers queries your licence status through PARIS. Again, some people think this is synonymous with your record being clean, but it is not.
We use a different system and can see everything back to when the driver was first licenced.....think the most I have seen is ...

Last I checked my passport does not say Europe
It is an offence when headlights have to be on....from "fail to use lower beam - following" (3pts) to..., if someone was so blinded it caused them to swerve out of their lane "careless driving (6pts)".
Yes, I obtained a conviction on the careless in court on it, I was blinded so bad could not ...

Re: G2 BAC Above Zero
I seem to recall though, when the legislation came out, that there was talk that insurance companies would not be able to use this against you since nothing has been proven. Perhaps I'm wrong on that.
I recall that..where it is an ADLS (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) that the insurance can not use it , but where it is MTO/Court ...

Re: Right turn Only Lane (Kennedy and Ellesmere)
The sign was placed there by the Municipality via a "bylaw" (law made by the city).
Highway Traffic Act, Regulation 615 lists all signs (dimensions, location etc..).
Offences:
1) receive an offence for disobeying a sign as put in to law by a "bylaw"
OR
2) if the sign meets the requirements of HTA REG 615, a charge can be laid using the HTA

if i understand correctly demerit points are via the offence date, only stay on for 2 years, so would not collect points.karent wrote: I've heard that people have received trial dates for 2.5 years AFTER receiving the ticket?

Re: Left Turn (King St. W and Atlantic Ave. - Toronto)
4 signs at an intersection and a courtesy one prior to the tunnel and people still turn left
The signs were most likely installed way back when there were too many collisions due to turning, or other traffic backed up and being rear ended. If the city were to remove the signs to appease a few people who "want" to turn there during couple ...

Re: Conviction or Offense Date?
Demerit points start from the "date of the commission of the offence".
(HTA OREG 339/94 sec 2)
All offences stay on your record for life.
