Given that I have had a clean driving record up until this point
You still have a clean record. Red light camera offenses don't follow you once they are paid off.
I read through other posts and the consensus seems to be that Option 1 is the best bet by trying to negotiate with the prosecutor before the trial. However, I couldn't find a post ...

Re: Highway 17, Ontario - Kenora Region 120 in a 90
Any particular reason why you wont attend the courthouse yourself? It's not really a charge where you couldn't just take it on yourself.
I don't really see any of these "ticket fighters" doing much more than getting your ticket reduced. If you're happy with that outcome, you can do that yourself. If you're looking for someone to go through a full ...

Re: Red Light - Fail to stop HTA 144(18)
Anyway I am just wondering if should try meeting with a prosecutor to reduce the demerit points.
It is eating up my mind, though if I keep both the fine and the demerit points I will have ultimately deserved it.
It sounds like you're content with pleading guilty anyways, so you've got nothing to lose by attending a resolution meeting. They will ...

Re: Speeding ticket advice
A 3 point ticket reduced to a 3 point ticket so I found out later. Who cares about a km reduction when it does nothing
about the points!
Saving the $30-$40 in a fine is probably more useful than avoiding the points. For the everyday driver, points are useless. They expire within 2 years. Unless you are a novice driver or you plan on getting ...

Re: Driving While Suspended
1. We never received any notice
Technically, they don't need to serve you with a notice. Usually, you get people who post here, ignore their tickets, and act shocked when they are pulled over. The other side will argue that anyone who ignores their fines should know their license will be suspended, notice or not.
If I understood correctly, you ...

Re: questions about being arrested, searched
He did not read our rights nor ask if he can search the truck. Was my rights being violated?
He doesn't have to ask you to search if he has a reasonable suspicion to do so. The smell of weed is enough for him to search, not to mention your passenger gave up his drugs.
As for whether or not you can play innocent and blame your passenger just ...

Re: Nova scotia DUI, Quebec License?
All Canadian provinces have a Reciprocal Licensing Agreement. If you have a valid license, it's pretty much a straight swap if you are eligible under the terms.
Each province has their own set of terms (example: How long new residents can use an out of province license before having to exchange).
That being said, your license must be valid. You ...

Re: Disobey Stop Sign - Video isn't concise?!
#1, you cannot tell from the video for sure if I stopped or not, because there's a snow bank that's blocking the view of the road before the sign, you can only see me driving from just before the sign, away - which means it's entirely possible that I stopped before the sign before continuing. This makes me a little bit annoyed with what the cop ...

Re: Disclosure not received yet - trial date soon
It's normal to wait up to 8 weeks for disclosure.
Most likely you will be offered disclosure on your trial date and they will put off your trial to another time. Neither side is considered at fault because your trial date just happened to be too close in time to fulfill a disclosure request.
You can send another request if it makes you feel more ...

Re: Radar detector offense
Reviving from the graveyard, could you in theory choose option 2 (as I recently learned, option 2 does not forfeit your right to a trial), get disclosure beforehand, and then use it at the meeting with the JP?
There's no use for disclosure at a resolution meeting. A resolution meeting is not a trial. They wont hear your arguments against the ...

Re: hand held device, it was only an ear attached bluetooth
1. Is there any legal line that would allow me to read the officer's notes before the trial if I initially did not make any written request?
You've had what I'm assuming is several months to make a request. Your trial is not a place to start preparing for your case. You chose to not request disclosure and waited until your trial to make that ...

I'm guessing this may be more likely from meeting at the crest of the hill as I've heard tickets on curves and hills have been thrown out on multiple occasions because some devices can't get accurate readings on non-flat/straight surfaces.
Readings on curves and hills benefit the driver, not the other way around. It'll read your speed lower than ...

Re: Ticket In RIDE program?
An officer doesn't need the ride program to pull you over and ask for license and registration. He can do that anytime anyone is on the road driving a vehicle.
As for the "drunk drivers are getting away" argument, you can make that argument with any ticket in the history of pulling people over.
I might add, I am a young male who was driving an ...

Re: 80Km/h in posted 60KM/h - Radar reading 91 - Disclosure
Speeding is an absolute liability offense. If you're going to argue there's "technically no sign", then the speed limit is 50km. Now you're doing 91 in a 50.
