I have a G2 license, but have a G test in a few weeks. I have already gone through the first two tiers of the escalated offences for novice drivers. I got a ticket for going 60 in a 40 school zone. I told the officer that I had just recently gotten a suspended license back and he decided to drop the school zone part. He also said take it to court and ask the judge to drop the demerit points. How do I do this? Is it possible that the court will see that it was a school zone and bump it up again? If I get my full G will that help with anything in this case? Thanks!

Speeding carries its own set of demerit points. Speeding in designated zones will increase the fine, but wont change the points. Your charge carries 3 demerit points. As it seems you are aware, any charge with 4 or more demerit points carries an automatic suspension for a novice driver. You are safe on that front. I'm pretty sure any 4 or more demerit point charge isn't counted towards your overall points total once you've been suspended, but don't take my word for it. If you need a copy of your abstract, you can purchase one immediately online in pdf format and check for yourself. I don't know any of your previous history or whether or not you've accumulated enough points elsewhere to put you into suspension territory. Any roadside reduction can be brought back up to its original charge if you end up in a trial. It's also possible you could be offered a reduced charge that would leave you with zero points for this incident. Points also don't show up on your record until they day you are convicted. If you wish to request a trial, you can put off having the points for several months. On your trial date, you will be offered a deal if your charge has enough flexibility for it. You can continue with your driving tests in the meantime.

I have a pretty general question, I am just wondering, If a Police Officer is doing radar (or laser.. whatever) on an unlit area of a highway and is out of his vehicle do this, with his vehicle faced into traffic (but on the center median emergency turn around). If there is multiple cars on the…
Hi there, this incident occurred on the night of July 1st, so my deadline on this ticket is July 16th. I plan on going to the court office on Monday so I figured I'd see what the experts think about my case. As a result, I apologize for the long post, but I don't want to leave out any details.
I have several problems and I'm wondering what my options are. This past weekend I was driving home from Lake Huron and was caught going 112 in an 80km/h zone. I am currently on my Quebec probationary license which is revoked at 4 demerit points. The penalty in Quebec for going +32 km/h over is 3…
Careless driving (HTA 131) deal down: lessons I learned
Careless Driving (6 demerit points) seems to be a "favourite" charge among police officers. It is certainly serious enough to get your attention and any plead down to say 2 or 3 points seems a gift. Here is a case where quick action and…

Does anybody know how you can check the status of your Demerit Points and how many you have collected over the last two years?
I just received a ticket as I was travelling through Barrie and am debating whether or not to fight it. My decision will be based on whether or not an infraction I received…

I was charged with careless driving last night. I am hoping anyone here can give me advice . Right now I am upset, angry, stiff and sore and don't know if I should just go right into my long drawn out account of what happened or just give a basic outline and answer questions anyone may have. I…
