Actually, the Canadian Oxford Dictionary does allow the variant offense, though it indicates that offence is the most common form here.

And, since we're dealing with spelling, will somebody with God powers fix "Fill out this Form if You want to Contact a Professional Paralegel Service Today," please? (In blue, above the X-Copper ad.) It's driving ...

police officers have been told to issue more traffic tickets

Winnipeg's police officers have been told to issue more traffic tickets , in part to increase revenue.

And a union representing cops says the move could hurt their efforts to curb the city's gang violence.

Police Chief Keith McCaskill said last night he -- and he alone, without input from Mayor Sam Katz -- recently made the call to patrolling ...

Re: plaincloths officer stopped me for not checking

Remember the HTA is an ACT not LAW.... it is a legislation that carries the enforcement of law only with OUR CONSENT.

An Act is the Law. It DEFINES the Law.

The Highway Traffic Act (HTA) is an Ontario law which regulates the licensing of vehicles, classification of traffic offenses, administration of loads, classification of vehicles and other ...

Re: Another OPP "Damn Street Racer"

This shouldn't be too shocking.

I have seen cops drive like maniacs.

The other day I was Cut OFF by a cop in my town.

I was coming to a red light, and the cruiser had his green going straight across me when all of sudden he changed his mind, made a right turn, and came straight into my lane and headed straight towards me.

I actually had to ...

Re: plaincloths officer stopped me for not checking

I'm sure anyone could create a uniform that would pass as an authentic one...

Was the car un-marked?

What if a police cruiser pulled you over?

Would you still deny his uniform as an authentic piece of ID? Isn't the Cruiser itself a piece of ID?

I do understand the doubt. It can become confusing for un-marked cruisers.

You can ask them for a ...

Well if WalMart, Best Buy, Future Shop and a whole lot of other retailers can stop you at the exit door so someone can look in your bag or check your receipt, sometimes forcefully, and get away with it with little or no fuss I don't see why the police can't stop you at a RIDE check ;)

Interesting analogy, but here's what I think:

I would have also charged each passenger for "consuming under age" and possibly contacted CAS pending the situation.

I was just thinking the same thing!

I Highly disagree with Underage Drinking. The cop was nice enough to not question the passengers about the drinking ...
