Re: Government proposes random breathalyzer tests

The HTA is an ACT. It is NOT LAW. Acts and statutes are ONLY enforcable as law with the CONSENT of the governed.

If you do not consent you cannot be charged.

You actually consented when you stepped foot on Canadian Soil! If You don't want to consent, here's an idea, leave Canada!

You can't be like oh well I don't want to be charged so I do not ...

Re: Cop did not change lane for another emergency vehicle

The cop pulled me over on highway. There were two emergency vehicle on the right shoulder. The cop in the back car came behind my car. while passing another stopped emergency vehicle he did not move over. Was he required by law to move over for another emergency vehicle even if it was only 1 and half car length away?

It would not make sense for ...

I received a similar ticket at that intersection of Bronson Avenue and Carling Avenue. I will be fighting this ticket and it appears that they have made my argument for me. The ticket states I approached the intersection after the light had been red for 4.6 seconds, and proceeded through the intersection when the light had been red for 6.3 seconds ...

Re: Careless driving why me?

On your first attendance the prosecutor will likely try to get you to plead down to "Follow too close", which is about the same fine, but less demerit points.

Follow Too Close = $110, 4 Demerit Points. So you save a couple hundred dollars on the ticket and 2 demerit points but you're still looking at a possible insurance increase.

At least ...

Re: parking infront of crosswalk/walkway, no sign

So I decided to pay this $20 parking ticket.

I went to the City of Guelph website to pay parking tickets online.

https://online.parksmart.ca/204_en.php

Then I saw:

A convenience fee of $2.50 is applied to every transaction.

They should not be allowed to pass on the transaction fees to us. That is the Cities operation cost. Why do we have to ...

Re: Ontario Demerit Points System and What it means for you

If I got a traffic ticket, I would not bother playing with the points as they do not DIRECTLY affect my rates. I would play with pleading to other charges based on whether they were classified as minor or major convictions, or had no affect on my insurance like many municipal and "car owner" charges. Some companies have a third category even more ...

Re: Ontario Demerit Points System and What it means for you

Demerit points > suspension > insurance increase. The suspension directly affects your insurance rate.

Indirect? Such as Demerit Points lead to Suspension which leads to increase in Insurance is REALLY indirect?

Here's an idea, get a Traffic Ticket, play with the POINTS, then see how much or not the insurance company raises you! :P

Re: Ontario Demerit Points System and What it means for you

An offer for a two-demerit charge in exchange for a 6-demerit charge is obviously an improvement, but if you have a very strong case, don't settle for an offer of "no demerit points," as it may still count as a conviction on your insurance record.

Yes I agree, do not settle for a case when you can win! This is about when you can't win!

When you ...

Re: Ontario Demerit Points System and What it means for you

I wouldn't call it indirectly, but directly since Demerit Points CAN directly impact your insurance rates by putting you over your G2, G points limit and resulting in a license suspension.

Also, the higher the points DIRECTLY means higher the conviction.

A 6 Pointer is definitely worse than a 2 Pointer in terms of a Conviction.

If by indirectly ...

Re: Ontario Demerit Points System and What it means for you

Demerit Points directly affect insurance rates in different cases such as the difference between a 6 Pointer VS 2 Pointer Traffic Ticket is the Conviction type.

The points matter because the points can combine and put you over the edge and cause a license suspension, which is a definite insurance increase!

Also, Ontario insurance companies ...

Re: parking infront of crosswalk/walkway, no sign

There were no markings or signs that said you can't park there.

The crosswalk is in between two houses. Plenty of space to park in between the houses and in front of the cross walk. It's a normal curb, grass, sidewalk then cross walk.

It's in the middle of two houses. Goes some thing like driveway, curb with cross walk, then driveway. No sign or ...

parking infront of crosswalk/walkway, no sign

I got a parking ticket on Halloween around 9pm for parking in front of a cross walk in a residential street. There's no sign or anything that says you can't park there.

You know the crosswalk/walkways in residential streets that are fenced on both sides and that simply lead you to another street on the other side is what I'm talking about.

The ...
