Re: Law on Speeding and Radar Textbook
"The Law of Traffic Offences Ontario" by S.C. Hutchison is a great book with lots of case law on every page. There IS a section on Speeding, though not particularly detailed. I had no problem getting a copy locally by ordering it at a book store.
I always intend to get the "Speeding..." book too, but never got around to it. I could use a copy ...

Re: Motorcycle Groups and Right of Way
It's all about "attitude" and pack mentality. They know if they just GO, you'll wait. A buddy was telling me about an actual motorcycle GANG that had one rider stop traffic at an on-ramp so cars had to wait for a long line of bikers to stay in formation (no cars merging in to the pack). Totally illegal, totally disrespectful, but totally accepted ...

The REAL problem will be realized over the next 5 years, or so. All the "tweens" who, "OMG, would just DIE", if they're off their precious phone for more that 52 seconds, are about to get their licenses and enter an environment they have no clue how to manage. If you want to believe they are all going to "abide by some dumb rule that old people ...

Simple Question (not)...
What is an acceptable number of deaths each year on Ontario roads?
The topic on Legal Briefs the other night was the .05-.08 administrative suspension issue. I believe the holier-than-thou woman from OCCID stated that 6 fatalities were caused by drivers registering these breathalyzer readings. I suppose we must assume ...

Maybe "fix-it" ticket is only for our local PD. LEO writes a roadside order to fix problem. You have 24 hours to show up at police station with problem corrected. Hand over $10 and go on your way.

He did hand-deliver it to the crown's office. The clerk there told him to take it to the police station, which he then did.

I think that's the price one pays when they point their finger and accuse a free citizen of committing an offence. The defendant has the right to tailor their defense to the specific evidence which will be used against them. Otherwise defense strategies would have to be bloated masses of "possible" lines of questioning that would totally swamp the ...

Yes, I remember reading that which is why a DOUBLE-asked him if it was FOR SURE the officer that called him... He's sure (left his name as Constable so-'n-so). Seemed odd to me.

Just to be clear, the officer said he would present the disclosure "just before trial", not in advance. I read a response by Radar ID (elsewhere on this forum, in a similar scenario) that perhaps he should refuse to accept the last minute disclosure package and apply to the court for a stay instead.

Fantino has been an excellent leader for us.
are you sure about that?
The public does not see the day to day operations and how things have changed for the better for the employees.
Sure he's great for the employees, but isn't his job to protect and to serve the general public ? I'm willing to bet there's 15,000+ (and growing) families out ...

Fatal errors are those that would make it impossible for you to mount a proper defense (such as wrong statute listed), or are SO bad as to suggest the officers lack of judgment or observations would put his credibility in question.
The two you mentioned are minor and would be amended by any JP at trial.

The word "Speed", when used in this phrase, is a noun. It describes a thing. When I say I was traveling at a "speed" of 10kph, does that mean "it kills"?
Unfortunately, we (as a society) seem to need simple little quotes to live our lives by. The phrase "speed kills" redirects attention from "real" dangerous driving behavior. Sure I just backed ...
