Just a thought... feel free to shoot me down on this one...

The cop only saw the red light from HIS side of the intersection, correct? Would he not have to appear in court and provide evidence that YOUR light cycles EXACTLY the same as his? Personally, I would think he has to see what YOU see to be a strong witness.

As you probably know, there is ...

Man evolved quite successfully without the ability to to travel faster than a brisk run. So, technically, we are ALL moving "WAAYY faster than we need to be" ;)

I get a kick out of the crappy paint quality on the newer "florescent" plates. Over and over again, I see the blue lettering has faded almost completely off the plate. Are we really supposed to pay $20 for a mistake the MTO made? Can't help but suspect yet another government tactic by making us spend MORE money replacing worn out plates.

Re: "improper use of headlights"

What isn't clear is what the heck "alternating" means (between sides, or between on/off?).

If the headlights are cycling such that, at any given time, one headlight is on when the other is off, they would be alternating. Only emergency vehicles can legally do this.

Turning your lights on and off, or toggling your highbeam switch, is NOT ...

Ya, I'd do the same as you Marquisse. I would keep my questions (and closing statement) specific to the subsection listed on your ticket. If the crown tried to amend the ticket, I would object as I have appeared on my court date to defend myself against the charging document only. I would argue that amending the ticket would deprive me of the right ...

Just to add a couple nuggets of info:

- a double-solid line is treated the same as a single (can still pass).

- I'll never trust the dashed lines painted on 2-lane highways by the MTO. In many cases, they have them dashed WAAAY to close to a hill, limiting your view of oncoming traffic. I'm not sure what criteria is used by the MTO when ...

Re: What's the proper procedure to pass a car on a 2 lane road?

I have a 2 lane area as well. We have more crashes on this hwy, compared to the 401 due to intersections and people thinking they need to go faster . The difference of 80-100km is 4 minutes between the 2 towns.....certainly does not make a much of a difference to justify the increase in speed.

I know exactly what you mean. If I see a car approaching me from behind, I assume he will intend to pass me when the way is clear. If I "sense" he wants to pass (you can tell), I lean way to the right of my lane so my mirror won't cause a blind spot for him to see ahead. Just simply being courteous.
