Everyone makes a u-turn there. It's a total drag to have to drive around. But with the curves, there's a visibility issue and you don't see the cop coming around the bend until it's too late.
You are likely looking at 2 demerit points. If your insurance has the "5-star rating protection" clause then you shouldn't see an increase. But then you won ...

Re: SECTION 172? HELP
You can be speeding and be charged under s. 128 instead of 172. They are different charges. How do you tell the difference? Do you still have your vehicle?

Re: Disobey Stop Sign...No new stop sign warning posted
think the "new" is just a courtesy for immediate residents of that street.
What would be the difference if any of us drove to Thunder Bay and we did not see a stop sign that had been there for 10years?
It should be more than a courtesy, it becomes a safety issue.
I remember when the "new" stop sign was put on my connecting street. There are ...

Re: 110 in a 80km while passing?
You basically have two options: plead or fight. Like Bookm suggests, you can try going to a first attendance meeting and negotiating a lower charge. You should be able to get this one down to 15km/h or less and avoid demerit points.
If that fails, then mount your defence. Request disclosure and prepare for battle.

Bookm what's O. Reg 246/03? Is that just an older version of the current reg?
O. Reg 615 covers stop signs.
safedriver333, it sounds like you have more than enough to dispute this charge. Like Squishy I couldn't find anything requiring a new sign ahead warning. Alberta has documentation (on page 9) here: http://www.transportation.alberta.ca ...

Make sure you request an interpretor when you request a trial. You have a right to one under s. 14 of the Charter.
Also print off the weather report for that day to use at trial. If there was low visibility, the less likely the cop was able to see you stop. And your version of events will be more credible.

Watching it or appearing on it? Or did you mean you'll replace the 6-pack with a flat screen on the kayak? Just be careful, the ducks might trip on the extension cord.Bookm wrote:Now if I ever get my 6-pack taken away (and fined), I QUIT! I'll just take up TV as my weekend hobby, LOL.

Re: Interesting article about court appearances. Opinions?
I was thinking of this section as well. The interesting wording is the JP "shall hold a hearing" which to me means he'll ask the cop questions in response to the defence statement. This in effect means the cop is testifying.

Ask people their height or weight and they will likely state it in imperial. In Europe you'll get a metric answer.
If you buy a bag of potatoes, carrots or onions, do you think in pounds or kgs?

I think we need to step back a bit and look at the forest. A lot of us were approaching this post as if it were traffic court. And that makes sense for piezomot's son's charge.
However the lawsuit is ordinarily beyond what we discuss here. I point this out because the civil case will not only consider who was within the law, but who was at fault ...
