Re: Stopping two cars
The diagram still does not relate properly. I must be missing something in the description....all of a sudden we go from vehicles to a plate?
If it is to mean two targets at the same time....the lidar will not compute that and gives the operator an error.

Re: Stopping two cars
You can still see that it is difficult to target the plate..... And like you said you can't see the beam even under alignment checks. The officer still does not know "exactly" where the beam is.......at a distance of 500 meters 1 degree is a lot, even 0.5 degrees of misalignment will cause this situation.
I still do not see it when the beam is ...

Re: Only 3 points for running the red?
I'll vote for upping it to six, because this really is dangerous behaviour. Way worse than, say, "speeding" at 130k with the flow of traffic on a 400-series highway
Q. What happened?
A. Not sure, I was just going with the flow of traffic
Q. Why?
A. Well they all did it, it was the right thing to do!

Re: 90 in an 80, but given 110 in an 80.
He's a little upset that the officer would do something like that knowing the integrity of his nephews and niece.
Understandably so!
Her cousins have told her that normally officers including them, don't pull cars over if they are going with the flow of traffic on the hwy and the flow of traffic does not exceed exceed 25km in a 400 series hwy ...

Re: 90 in an 80, but given 110 in an 80.
An officer traveling the opposite direction spotted her and decided to turn around and follow her slowing down to 90.
Moving radar opposite mode. The officer turned around and she SLOWED down to 90. So what was the speed prior to her slowing? 99% of people see the cruiser, start braking (instinct) and then look at their speedometer...way too ...

Re: 90 in an 80, but given 110 in an 80.
Police do not have to show the radar/lidar to the person that is stopped. This is for a couple reasons.
With moving radar the unit is sitting in front of the police officer in front of the steering wheel (square box). To one side of this box will be a round shape (the antenna). This could be seen while sitting in the drivers seat of the offending ...

Demerit points for the offence won't be on the ticket. If you do not respond to the ticket, you will be deemed not to dispute it, and a conviction will automatically be entered against you. Not to mention your licence will get suspended for failing to tpay the ticket, then you will have $150 reinstatement fee, your insurance won't cover you in a ...

Re: Driving through Detroit could get expensive
Bookm is right, Michigan highways suck. That said, the fatality and accident rate fell on their roads when they raised the speed limits on the Interstates. They didn't raise them to a crazy-high number, but rather to what was reasonable for most Michigan drivers.
Do MSP vigorously enforce the speed at the limit? Then drivers actually pay ...
