Re: Red light - fail to stop

Let's say I were to choose option 2 that you've listed. What do I do/talk about with the said officer?

You'll show up to the courthouse with an appointment and they'll just offer you a deal for your guilt. They aren't interested in any particulars. It isn't a mini trial or anything. They'll try to find something suitable to lower it down to that ...

PS: the ticket is payable $325 and on the ticket he wrote my plate number wrong. instead of a M he wrote a n (literally).

PPS: it's suppose to be ZM but he wrote zn http://i.imgur.com/hnbwm4P.jpg

It won't matter. Either way, looks like a fast written M anyways.

I then took a picture with myself in it, spreading my arms out (about 1.75m), with one hand touch the hydrant.

I suggest you read the bylaw you were charged with before trying to make any type of defense. Let's just assume they'd take your picture into account and take your word that the car hadn't been moved.

Re: Proceed Contrary to Sign at intersection

New signs don't need to be marked. If they did, there would be regulations on how "warning/new" signs are to be displayed (there isn't). Sometimes you'll get the "new" sign, but it looks to be a courtesy more than anything. Whether they add one wont change your case.

If I were a prosecutor and had to counter your argument, it would probably be ...

You still haven't listed what you were charged with. No one can tell you what can of penalties you're looking at if you don't even know your charges.

Driving without insurance, for example, is a minimum fine of $5000 up to $25,000.

The options are on the back of your ticket. You can either

(1) Plead guilty
(2) Go to a first attendance meeting where you will still be asked to plead guilty, but they may give you a reduced fine, or
(3) go to trial.

What you linked to were offenses that carry demerit points. These will transfer to your abstract as if you committed them in Ontario. No, there is no rule in Ontario that says the police have to show you the radar gun. Some police officers will show it to you as a courtesy but they don't have to, so the fact that she didn't in this case won't help you in court.

I'll let someone who can give you a more detailed explanation answer your questions, but if you're going to file an appeal, make sure you are committed to it.

For example, you'll have to pay for your trial transcripts to be typed out and printed for you. Price varies, but they aren't exactly cheap.

In Ontario, the officer would be cutting you a big break by issuing Careless Driving instead of Stunt Driving. Not to say Careless Driving isn't so bad, because it is, but it's way better than dealing with a Stunt Driving charge.
