No one here is going to give you advice on criminal charges other than getting a lawyer.

You run the possibility of jail time, not to mention problems with your employment. Leaving the country with a criminal record is going to be an issue.

Re: Fail to Obey Lane Sign

You can request a trial. You'll still be offered a deal either way on your trial date. Requesting a trial leaves all your doors open.

If you'd like to move on with your life, option 2 is the choice. Some people may find waiting for a trial stressful. Your case may not be settled on your trial date, so there's the possibility of having to return ...

Re: Fail to Obey Lane Sign

The officer is correct. This kind of action causes motorists to impede traffic in the right turn lane. Either you switch lanes while you can, or you keep going.

Your reasoning, while sympathetic, is not a defense. There's no sympathy points on trial day. It's quite possible you can get a reduced sentence in return for a guilty plea, but I ...

I'm just going to repeat what everyone else has said. You received a summons, not some pay and go ticket.

Your fine/penalty hasn't been determined yet. Take it seriously or they'll take it seriously for you.

Does anyone have any advice for me as to what I should do? Should I fight it or pay the fine of $52.50?

That's for you to decide. "Following the flow of traffic" is not a defense.

Will my insurance be affected if I do fight it?

Your insurance may very well be affected either way. They don't really care if it's 5km, 15km, or 34km. A charge is ...

Re: Disobey Sign 182 (2) on HWY 401. Slight errors on ticke

After a minute or two I was on the left lane a few car-lengths behind a marked cruiser. He was driving annoyingly slow in the left lane, maybe 110km/h, even if that. (I saw something in the HTA that slower traffic must keep right according to the current flow.) That's why I thought it was 'safe' to pass him. After about 20 or so seconds driving ...

Nobody is going to recommend you refuse disclosure. If there's any advice for someone in your position, you wouldn't want to be in a position where you receive disclosure and be forced to go into trial right after reading it for the first time. For that ...

Any sense in asking for a trial and maybe making a better deal at least? Of course, there is always the hope the officer won't show up either. Or should I just suck up what I got?

There is always the possibility they can give you a reduced charged (example: 15km, 0 points). If they won't, they'll just continue to let you plead guilty to 20km ...

Re: Speeding - Sarnia

Seeing how you don't plan on going to trial with this charge, it's a pretty easy scenario.

Show up to court and they will offer you a plea deal. They do this with everyone, but not everyone has the same amount of wiggle room. If they are willing to go to 15 over, I guess you'll be leaving happy. If not, you can still just plead guilty to 20 over ...

For those thinking about arguing "what is front and what isn't", it's not going to matter. Your plate on your dash or visor is obstructed. Officers aren't expected to go out of their way to read your plate.

- Windshields glare.

1. does the ticket need to give a more precise location for the charge to be valid?

If you're asking whether "1km north of ..." needs to be listed next to the street on your ticket, it doesn't. Disclosure will have a more detailed spot.

2. If by using speeds and times that the place of the infraction could not possibly have been where he said ...

Also since you had a G2 that has now expired you may have to start over with a G1 and work your way back up.

This is another good point. I believe if you try to renew an expired G2, you have a 3 year period where you have to start from G1, but can skip the mandatory wait periods. If it's been longer, you'll have to start the whole thing over ...

You're really going to be pushing your luck by asking for disclosure 2 weeks out when you've had nearly 5 months to do so. Disclosure usually takes 1-2 months normally if you plan on getting it mailed back to you.

If you're asking whether your story is good enough to somehow make this ticket disappear, the answer is no.

You can always request an early resolution meeting and see if your charge can somehow be reduced. Your account of events isn't going to get you very far, so it's your best option really.

Just so you are aware, you are clearly at fault here. Whether or not the vehicle in front of you abruptly slammed on the brakes doesn't make you any less at fault.

That being said, your rep is confident that while you're at fault you were not careless in your actions. Whether or not he will be successful, who knows.
