Re: Unique Defense

Aluminum hats pose a mental health risk and I have wondered loudly on here if CC sleeps with her's on, and while researching this stuff today, I've read references to "tin hats" on more than one occasion. The argument simply has not been thought through, but it entices many (hey even I was interested because if I could submit a successful legal ...

I know exactly where that is, Firestart. It runs from what they call the Six-Points Plaza and runs to the Mississauga border (and continues into Mississauga under the 427 collector lanes bridge holding the lanes to the exits of Browns' Line and Queensway). Another landmark is Cloverdale Mall.

Re: When officers break the law...

I find that the older (more experienced) the officer is, the more professional they become. Experience teaches and humbles. Especially in that profession.

I work in a building that also holds a for-profit "college" offering law and security (police foundations) programs, and I pray to every deity ever imagined into existence that the majority of ...

Re: requested disclosure 6 weeks ago, not received, court tomm..

Something similar happened to me, but what could happen with you is prior to the case being called, the prosecutor will want to speak with you to discuss how you're going to plead, etc., and then you will tell them you did not receive disclosure. They will do their darndest to get it to you prior to your case being called in order to not have an ...

Do you still have all of the paperwork for your trial including the payment you did make in September '09? I don't know what to do, honestly, except bring it to the requisite enforcement agencies and show them the paperwork at the weight stations (I don't even know if they'd know what to look at or if they would not care ...

Re: Can the HTA be enforced in a mall parking lot

Vehicles are always at fault according to the Fault Determination Rules when a pedestrian is hit, whether or not the pedestrian was at fault. I wish there was something Joe/Jane Public could do to fight the insurance companies at this because it is utterly wrong. The HTA charge should correspond to the FSCO determination, especially in cases like ...

Re: Can the HTA be enforced in a mall parking lot

Plus insurance blame is different than HTA blame. You can be sure that if you are not stopping at a stop sign and cause a collision you may not get a ticket. But the report will reflect that you are clearly at fault. In my experience you will be blamed fully for the collisions.( this is from a personal collision I had in PVt property. Other guy ...

Re: Pedestrian deaths spike in GTA

Yesterday, I was coming to an amber light at a very busy intersection (not in GTA, yet the attitude is the same with many pedestrians throughout, as this post will demonstrate). Cars were still zipping through the intersection to my right (I was on a one-way on the left-most lane) as it had just turned amber. I slowed down. As I slowed, two ...

Please also note that the french sign requirement for the City of Hamilton exists only for the City of Hamilton as it existed prior to January 1, 2001 . The City of Hamilton amalgamated with Waterdown, Flamborough, Ancaster and Dundas on January 1, 2001, so the french sign requirement does not apply to these areas since, prior to January 1, 2001 ...

I just read that thread. It sounds like they had the same entitlement attitude. Everyone just left the cyclist there to fix herself up because of her hostility and ...

I've stopped at a collision scene where a moron made a right turn on a red light without slowing or stopping, and nailed a pedestrian who was legally crossing the street, breaking her leg. The first words out of his mouth: "WTF is your problem, lady? Look what you did to my car!"

On Dundas Street, between Bay and Yonge on the North side ...

I went to court on Thursday and ended up asking for an adjournment because the crown gave me disclosure (about 3 lines of the officer's notes  ) 30 seconds prior to calling my name.

The officer's note mentioned that he saw me drive in the centre lane for about 200-300 meters. IMPOSSIBLE. Look, I'm no police basher like we often get here ...

Rates will not be affected if you are hit from behind as well, which is 0% responsibility according to insurance accident rules.

Re: Rules to over take street car?

This was a common problem on Lakeshore Blvd West from Kipling all the way to Parklawn. You never knew when the driver would stop because of traffic, or stop because it was "close enough" to the stop. It seemed as though the streetcar drivers would not consider that drivers cannot anticipate them letting off passengers in live lanes AWAY from the ...

Re: Halton Police's "Radar Taxi"

I think having as much police presence on the road as we can afford is a good thing. However, marking a cruiser to look like a cab is underhanded and done only to generate revenue for the region it's in.

A positive outcome of police presence on the road is the deterence of bad drivers from making bad mistakes that could hurt someone and I don't ...

It is still unconstitutional to imprison someone without a trial. Take that out and this law may stand.

But, if it's unconstitutional to imprison someone without a trial, why are people imprisoned and denied bail prior to their trial? I was at court this week and witnessed a case where the accused were arrested and held since April '08. The ...

If the courts are finding it unconstitutional, on what basis are they continuing to charge under that law? It's a waste of taxpayer dollars, and I think that their attitude shows blatant disrespect toward the Charter. There are compelling reasons why the vehicle would raise suspicion, but can someone please tell me if there is a record of when a licence # has been pulled over? If so, then surely the office next pulling over the vehicle knows this when they punch in the licence #?

I am not of the "type" who would be targetted or arise suspicion as I'm just another Jane Public going about ...
