Hi Bruce,
RI's explanation still stands, unfortunately. Fault Determination Rules have made an activist out of me, and I'm no activist. They are, IMO, utterly ridiculous. Despite that your charges were dropped because you were not liable under the HTA, under the Fault Determination Rules, you were in the way of the oncoming car, and therefore they ...

LOL, I'd figure they were either black ops, cops, or Tony Soprano.
Either way, if they followed me to my driveway I'd be on the phone with 911 and freaking out. As a woman, every single nightmare story about the Bundys, Ridgeways, and Bernardos of this world flood the brain when freaky stuff like that happens. That is just not normal stuff for Joe ...

Re: Can we discuss Debit Card Skimming on here?
Thanks. I thought this would've generated more hits and comments. Perhaps not as many people as I thought are victims to this skimming. My account was breeched this weekend - again (twice in less than a week) and I haven't even used it. Again, no money taken out. I went to use it on Sunday and I was blocked. I had to go into the bank again to get ...

Can we discuss Debit Card Skimming on here?
I've had my card (with the chip) compromised for the second time in as many months, and an attempt to take out a larger sum of money was made this time in Brampton.
I've been very careful with my card, and generally have a very good handle on where I use it. There are two consistent places I've used both cards that were compromised, one of them ...

Yep Re: the Beckett route. A motorist just plunged 20 meters into the ravine last night, and they were still trying to get him off the escarpment this morning. I've been living in the Hammer for close to 3 years now and I'm still petrified on some of the escarpment roads.

My windows were factory tinted, and you cannot see in the rear windows, period. The driver left and right are also tinted and I personally think it's a little too dark but my cousin, an OPP officer, took a look and said I should be okay. No problems, and I bought it in 2003. If I did get a ticket, I would not be surprised, though.

Sure, you can't know what side of the bed the justice woke up to that morning, but armed with the evidence I did have, a reasonable person would've seen that it was not neglect on my part.
It really couldn't have been worse luck. I didn't even have the time to have it fixed; no shop was open between 4:00am and 7:30am, and I took my car downtown ...

I disagree. We aren't talking a failure to re-mount the front license plate 6 months in. This happened within the same morning, not even just in the same 24 hour period. With a police report dated/timed 5 hours prior, I believe I would not have been found guilty provided that once I did turn up in court, I had the police report of the incident ...

Bad stories? Like what?
Look, this is Canada, not Mexico. Our officers, for the overwhelming majority, want to do the right thing. We do not live in a corrupt society where our policing is bought and our officers abusive of the power they are entrusted with. We have a safe country and a good system that is just. Really? And what evidence does she have to charge you with that? Aasif, I hope you are being 100% up front here and that there isn't even a slight chance that your wife or your child, or someone else with access to the keys to your car, hit the car parked on the road by accident when you weren't there.

I got that ticket in Toronto in 1997. My car was illegally towed at 11pm the night immediately prior. The tow truck tore off my front license plate, mount and all. Not only did I get my car out of the pound with the help of the police (and not having to pay a cent), but I didn't get home until 4am that morning and was out driving to work at 7am ...

Re: Falsely accused of hitting a car while backing from driveway
Look, we have to provide insurance, ownership, and license upon demand when driving, not when our car is sitting parked in the driveway and we're in our homes minding our own business.
If there were no charges because of lack of evidence, I'd refuse to cooperate.

Re: hit by drunk driver need advice
Please seek legal advice from a qualified professional for a second opinion because this involves insurance and not HTA. Yes, it is your responsibility to ensure you pay your fines, but I don't think that you can be denied your right to seek damages (punitive as well) for this driver's criminal act. See, this is so much more than an accident. This ...

How do they consolidate information from Michigan's files to Ontario's, out of curiosity? IE, when will they find out or when will this conviction be registered on the license of a driver, licensed in a different country?

Re: We're not unfairly complaining about congestion
For starters, cars are a lot more fuel efficient than they were when the limits were originally placed. You wouldn't even feel a difference in fuel economy between 100 and 120 .
In my experience, this couldn't be more untrue. My average was 120km/h. My average now is 100 km/h, and I never hit empty before 415km (average is about 415-420km but I ...

Re: We're not unfairly complaining about congestion
It isn't more fuel efficient or environmentally friendly, that's for sure. I know this because when I began to travel extensively on the hwys in Southern Ontario, the gas prices skyrocketed and I was over a barrel because of the cost of gas.
I was also travelling mostly in the left lane, or moving to the middle when someone faster wanted to pass ...

I agree. We are almost as litigious as the U.S. here in Ontario, but we too have limits to what we are awarded, whereas in the U.S., only common law precedent is the limit and that can be easily broken.

What i'm looking for, is, if car "B" has complied with subsection (1) and has been waiting (not approaching) the intersection as well as Car A for the north/south traffic to clear, would this still give Car A right of way?
Yes it would.

Yes, we do have a thriving AB milking business, which may or may not be what I was victim to yesterday, since it couldn't have been timed better. Hopefully there is an awareness campaign because I have two hog-owners in my neighbourhood. Yes, it will, but I have to be honest, I think it's a racket. I think it is so unjust when we are forced by law to deal with these insurance companies who, in all honesty, rip us off. Try fighting them or appealing a decision regarding injuries.

"Collision" with a Cyclist Yesterday
I questioned whether or not it was a full moon, and it was (I saw it this morning). I got into a "collision" with a cyclist yesterday.
