Hold up. Cosine works for the driver. In most cases it is a non-factor as far as influencing the reading by either radar or lidar. I see no regular, read officer sitting road side, one lane from traffic, speed "trap" that will lower a reading by 2-3 KMH. The fact of the matter is that the operator manuals state, thanks book, that the device is only accurate to within 2 KMH. If the officer charges full "reading", then you could still get the ticket lowered simply with this info. This is huge at that magic 49 over mark. However, you are right bear, 50 over is a stuuuuuupid thing to be doing. But 40 is OK. ![]()

Re: Going 50 over the limit
Re: Going 50 over the limit
Cosine error is not restricted to the horizontal plain. There is a vertical cosine error also. So of course a crown in the road can eliminate the vertical cosine error (the cruiser can be level with the plain of travel of the targeted vehicle). Combine a crown in the road with a curve and, whalla!... no cosine error. Pop-up cop holes not necessary ![]()

Bear, you go ahead and do your "Cop-in-a-hole" thing. I will be taking credit for the big A$$ mallet, not mullet, that we'll attach to our front bumpers. Whack-a-cop.........I mean mole. It'll be great until someone loses and eye though.
I could see it now. Any multilane highway. Deserted except for me, my car and my mullet........mallet. A series of your "holes" all over the road.
The game begins with a police siren, fitting. Now I drive, any lane, it is deserted, and try to pop-a-cop back into his hole. Think of the overly impressive car control skills you could learn trying that.
And before anyone comes on here saying thats abuse..........I'll make the mallet, give it a wig to look like a mullet, out of nerf stuff. And there we have it. It's my new game called......................Cops & Knockers. I need to get a life.

No Right Turn - Disobey Sign
Hi There,
I was driving on Eglinton W and turn right on Strathearn (near Eglinton/Allen Road). There was a no right turn (from 3pm to 7pm) sign which I didn't see.
The cop was waiting there, apparently nobody sees the signs but they are there.

Owner Notification in writing of Vehicle Impoundment Letter
I was presented with a summons to a stunt driving charge on November 1st and the vehicle ownership is under my dad's name for insurance reasons.
It says on my impoundment form there is supposed to be a form mailed to the owner to notify the owner of the vehicle impoundment.
My dad does not yet know…
115km/h on hwy 400
I know this technically doesn't fit on this board (3 demerit points) as it seems that 15km/h over just means a 50 dollar fine, I would like some advise though, I'm not sure how I should proceed.
The incident happened in Feb, driving south on highway 400 near Barrie. I was in the fast lane, doing…
Question regarding debris
Quick question about debris (broken taillights ect) from an accident and responsibility.
If someone hit something that broke off (not cargo), but 30 minutes after the original accident and other cars managed to avoid everything. The debris was avoidable who is responsible for damage to that car.

Is this legal (Lighting)?
Hi there,
I was just wondering if this is legal? From what I interpreted from the HTA, it is legal but the wording is very vague.

Inner light (closest to grille) as orange (on when parking lights/headlights are on and blink when turn signal is activated)
Outer…
Failure to stop within marked lane
Hello,
First post..... My fiancee this week was in an accident and she was handed a 3 demerit point 154 (1) (a) charge for 115 dollars or something and 3 demerit points.
Demerit points do not matter to insurance companies, convictions do ... is there a chance that she could go to court and the…

Disobey Stop Sign ticket - Markham Dec09
