Expired Plates = Invalid Insurance?

by: qzar on

I moved from Ontario to Manitoba, and in the process of updating everything I overlooked the plates. I was pulled over in Manitoba and charged for driving without insurance, because in Manitoba, it is public insurance is runentirely through your plates.

I was still paying my insurance premiums through my Ontario broker.

Was my insurance still valid even though my plates were expired?

I am fighting the ticket and want to be sure I was still insured.

Thanks

Bring a letter from your insurance company stating that you had valid insurance at the time of the infraction. That should do it.
