The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations, (a) requiring the owners of commercial motor vehicles, or any type or class thereof, uninsured motor vehicles or motor assisted bicycles, and motor vehicles or motor assisted bicycles that have been involved in accidents that are reportable under section 199 to submit them to inspection; (b) prescribing the inspection procedures, inspection requirements and performance standards required for the motor vehicles and motor assisted bicycles; (c) prohibiting the operation on a highway of motor vehicles and motor assisted bicycles that do not comply with the requirements and standards, and providing for the seizure of the number plates of the motor vehicles and for holding them until the motor vehicle is made to comply with the requirements and standards. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 83.
