Notice Of Impending Conviction

Unread post by MartinBrice »

Got a parking ticket on Nov. 18 2010. Decided to ignore it, as per one of the suggestions on TicketCombat. The Conviction notice arrived on December 14th, with a "due date" of Dec. 25.

The first thing I'm wondering is, what exactly does "due date" mean. I'm assuming it means I have to respond to the notice by then, but there isn't very much time between when I received it and the due date. Secondly, how can the due date be Christmas day? I'm assuming that none of the courts are open on Christmas. Thirdly, from reading ticket combat, I thought you would have 15 days to respond to the notice, and that the court would assume that it took 7 days for you to receive the notice.

Does anybody have any experience/knowledge with these notices?

You must reply before the due date.

Either pay it or ask for a trial date.

If you do neither you are guilty and can expect $20.00 added to the amount.

Ticket date to due date, in your case seems to be over 36 days?

If you are only a few days off to reply they will let it pass.

If you have the time just fill in the challenge form.

Just curious... what was the reasoning behind Ticketcombat's suggestion to ignore the ticket?

* The above is NOT legal advice. By acting on anything I have said, you assume responsibility for any outcome and consequences. *

Reviving an old thread. But I did the same and ignored the parking ticket with the advice of ticketcombat, but the City of Markham claimed they already mailed me the notice of impending conviction (BUT I NEVER GOT IT!)

Today I just got a "Notice of Fine and Due Date" letter saying a conviction is recorded against me. Is there anything I can do about this?
