Re: Ban the Cell Phones Law

Found some proof that even hands-free sets do nothing to prevent collisions. More proof here , a U of T study, done in Toronto in mid-90s.

CBC reports that using a cellphone while driving increases chances of collision by 38%, while others (look above links) say that talking on a cellphone quadruples the chances of a collision while talking on it ...

Re: Bad Drivers?

Not to go off topic but anyone notice that the cop in the site logo is tailgating?? http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com/images/ohtalogo.gif

I wondered why the cruiser was driving the wrong way......or is it going in reverse? (white door is on front, red light is on drivers side)

That cruiser is a 2-door Charger to catch REAL speeders ...

Is death penalty a part of Conservative platform? I should re-think whom I'll vote for next election.

Re: Definition of 'highway'

Quite unfortunately for this case, the toll highways such as 407 is are actually governed by the OHTA (sections 191.1-191.4)

Re: Speeding 22km/h over the posted speed limit.

I mean if the limit was 120 then 50 over would be 170. If u wanna look for street racers that sounds more like it. They're wont be many people with basic R rated tires and a 4 cylinder engine going 170.

Won't see many people with V6's either. Gas costs start to pinch in quite heavily after 120-130 on most vehicles.

I mean some older people get ...

You do not have to pay another fine, however, your driving record might show the offence as S 128 (14) (d), which is a 6 demerit points offence, with all other insurance implications.

But what about them lidars? They seem to work fine for a mile away. Better than 99.5 % of the peoples' eyesight.

Then you request for the complete disclosure. See what they wrote down.

During court, you ask the witness (cop, provided they show up), "were the light on the cruisers activated?"

Re: Bad Drivers?

The simplest way I can put it is, "Faster than the lane to your right, slower than the lane to your left."

Makes the most sense to me, otherwise we're turning the highway into a Grand Slalom of sorts, with more lane changes/tailgating/etc. Although I will say that driving from Windsor back to Toronto last weekend, after clearing the construction ...

Mail in you request for disclosure. Let us see what they have against you.

As to filing a complaint... Not sure where you would send it too, but that is a definite "should do".

Why don't you make a call to the OPP to charge the Fire Chief with "Follow too Close"? He had no qualms about ratting you in, even though his case had no merit.

Re: Charges laid in rural hit and run - dead horse

In any case, while the law allows for horses to be on the roads, the reality of the situation is that the law was originally written when horses were still used for transportation. These days, horses are not so common and only used for recreational purposes.

OHTA was written in 1990. I highly doubt that the horses were in common use in 1990.

I ...

Great. Now insurance rates will increase for grey cars due to the fact that they are harder to see on the road, thus increasing ...

Standard questions

Were you alone in the car when the incident happened? If not, who else was there.

How fast were you going after you passed the fire chief?

What do you mean by "aggresively chasing me"? He can be charged under 172 for "Racing". See end of post.

Can you recall clearly what had happened that day? From "I started to overtake the ...
