Re: Disobey lane light 144 (10)

It appears that 144(10) does not carry any demerit points.

Check on our site: http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com ... points.php

There are points awarded for 144(7), 144(8), 144(9), 144(14), 144(15), 144(16), 144(17), 144(18), and 144(21), but not for the 144(10)!

How fast were you going before you realized that someone was tailgating you?
Officers are not exempt from tailgating charges. If s/he was tailgating you you can argue that you sped up because of that, which is also an excellent defence.

I think that having either device would get you 3 points. Nothing says about the type of the device you have, only "soeed measurement warning device".

Mo logic tell me that if you have both a radar detector and a laser jammer, then the officer might write you 2 tickets, one for each device...

Fines are $100 - $1000, plus court fees. Bear might ...

Mounties are slowly getting the point

Yahoo reports that "Use [of Tazer by the RCMP] dropped 30 per cent from a peak of 1,583 incidents the year before. "

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090406/national/rcmp_tasers

Do you think that 1600 incidents is at least 1400 too many? I mean there are some times when you have to use the Tazer, but, as in recently re-heated death of ...

He said it's the lawyers that are winning exorbitant awards that are at the root of the problem. If it's a kid that gets killed, that's a very long life that now has to be compensated for and the awards are in the millions. If the government could control the lawyers success in huge settlements, it wouldn't be so bad.

Also, if you are 20-30 km away from people, would you even have cell phone reception? Back in December my car got stuck on a sideroad just 6 km north of Fergus and there was no cell reception. I had to hike about a kilometre in around 20 cm of snow before hitching a ride on a snowplow. Got a bit of frostbite for my troubles.

There is a very good and safe way of transporting goods without inconveniencing anyone else, without sacrificing the timing for the chance of a traffic jam, practically eliminating chances of a collision.

Put the load on rails! No traffic jams, faster travel, very few accidents, those that do happen are insured by the carrier... And no unneeded ...

Just to throw it out there, why not call up a local police station? They must be able to tell you how often they respond to crashes there.

Re: High contrast glasses at night

On unlit streets, I sometimes drive at night wearing high-contrast glasses (you may know them as shooting glasses) to highlight lane markings, shadows, and, during a snowstorm, where the two tire tracks on the road are.

Are there any legal ramifications of doing this? The light transmittance of these amber glasses are around 75%, compared to ...

Re: disclosure and witnesses

Looks like a lot of errors were made.

Since a collision was involved, witnesses must be present at trial. If they do not show up, case dismissed. You can rip cop's "evidence" in shreds given his/her mistakes in notes and accident reports, as they are inconsistent with each other. Write a detailed account of what had happened to you as you were ...

This would tell me that perhaps someone was being rushed to the hospital and they either did not have time, or did not think, to call paramedics.

In America, it takes less time for a pizza to get to your house than for a paramedic team!

Perhaps a minimum speed limit would have to be applied here? I mean slowing down even from 100 to 60 because someone afraid of going 100 is still quite a bit. In Europe minimum speed limit is quite common on their roads. There are plenty of alternative routes to be considered if one is unable to go the speed limit of 400-series.

What is worse ...
