Re: Is this for real?

Speaking of hospitals... I've seen Toronto and Peel constables give seriously injured people tickets in the emergency rooms. While those people might have violated the law, they already have to deal with:
1) A totalled vehicle
2) Insurance premium increases
3) Heavy bodily injuries with all the fixin's (surgeries, recovery, physio...)
If that ...

Re: safe highway merge

Not quite a youngster....37.... was driving in 1987....10yrs after MPH was gone! I don't know what "F is either for temperature...

Imperial makes no sense at all. No simple multiples of 10. When temp is 0C that is the point of water freezing and above and below tha point rise accodingly....then you get "F" where the freezing is a little way up ...

Re: What happens when legislation gets out of hand

Typical example: Doing 115 goin' up 400. Pulled over (OPP in this case as I was near the north end).. The constable takes my docs, they check out, comes back with the ticket basically saying "I caught you you doing 122, but I cut you a break and dropped it down to 115."

So that discretion by the officer saved you about $70 and 3 demerit points ...

Re: safe highway merge

There is certainly some bone head ramps designed from way back.....one near London....think it is to hwy 4.....travelling EB, have to go merge into the exit ramp, go under the bridge and curl around to go north...that part makes sense.......but if you are SB on Hwy 4, and want to go east, you merge back around and use the EB exiting ramp as your ...

Re: Impaired boating

Pretty sure it has not been mentioned as boating stuff is not governed by the HTA.

Boating is governed by the Criminal Code and a few boating acts. I am not a marine operator, so I have no clue what the acts are or what they are called.

I will have to ask one of the marine operators.

Re: What happens when legislation gets out of hand

This is a fairly common scenario for me...
I'm doing Xkm/h. The constable tells me that I was doing X+5 to 10 but because he's such a nice guy, he'll drop the ticket down to X.
Guess what would happen if I were lidared/paced doing 140-145 on the 407........
sorry, I do not understand that at all, please refresh and try again, thanx

By the way ...

Re: safe highway merge

Simple - Unsafe Lane change

Combination of many factors produces this congestion:
- length of ramp
- merging vehicles not coming onto thru hwy at speed of 100km/hr
- others on the thru highway following too close
- others on the thru highway exceeding the speed limit (knowlingly that the merging vehicles can never get up to that speed to safely ...

Re: Driving with a temporary cast

I do not know of any law that prevents someone from driving with a cast.

This would be up to a doctor to decide. Doctors have the ability to send MTO documentation that a driver is unable to drive due to a condition of some sort. Then the MTO would suspend the drivers licence until reinstated by the doctor.

Think more legal issue would be if ...

Re: Is this for real?

At least it was genuine truth about the family member, they were in fact at a hospital. That certainly paints a bad picture about the police, not only there, but everywhere that was published.

HOWEVER....again biased reporting!!! The article keeps on going about the officer did this and that........finally way down at the bottom....there is a one ...

Re: front license plate position in ontario

Agree with ya squishy...

ON the front and back of the vehicle, not 1/3 way back from the front laying on a dash, visor etc..

If I recall correctly the temp/10 day permit was required by law to be clearly affixed to the windshield of the motor vehicle!

Re: What happens when legislation gets out of hand

2) 172 can be used as an intimidation tool to force vehicle operators not to dispute less serious charges.

So what your saying is not to use discretion in regards to any of the 172 sections. Give everyone the full hammer instead of a lessor offence which also applies.
(IE...stop someone for 150km, lower it to 149km so they don't lose their ...

Re: Legality of Mohawks on helmets

Probably because one helmet is manufactured with the vents in. The mohawks things are either glued or bolted on after market thus wrecking the dexterity of the helmet with holes and/or glue thus voids the DOT/CSA certification. Removing foam liner also voids the helmet.
