Just an additional FYI....
The fines are doubled in construction zones when workers present (anywhere in zone)......but if no workers fines are normal but still at 80km/hr.
RI - Due to the construction zone and complaints from workers, our cars are sliding down to bolster the area. April 9th eh?? If that might be after 6pm, might see "Da Bear" on ...

SLOW DOWN - Hwy 401 West of London
LONDON to WINDSOR on Hwy 401.
A friendly heads up....enforcement is being stepped up.
The already known area for enforcment is 124km-56km...Chatham-Kent
However, there are multiple construction zones recently set up in the 56km-8km (Essex area). These zones are posted at 80km/hr and are being heavily enforced day and night .

Re: 110 in a 80km while passing?
However let's say your on the QEW at like 9 am and everyone is flying past you going between 130-110 which is very common here with no accidents or construction.
The cars ride so close and everyone is in a rush for work. 3 lanes can't handle traffic anymore here. So there is to much room for error with radar to be sure and then it would be ...

Re: 110 in a 80km while passing?
Correct me if I'm wrong but newer units have a "fastest" speed mode where it will display the fastest reading.....
However if the unit reads and displays all speeds and there was more then 2 cars on the road the information would then be null and void........
Yes, newer units have the "fast" mode.
Readings do not become null and void with more ...

Lidar is easy no matter how many lanes or volume of traffic. Only trick in heavy traffic is getting to the offending vehicle.

COP: Not sure. I believe right on the speed limit.
ME: Was this determined by visual estimate?
COP: No, Radar.
ME: What was your visual estimate?

Radar does have the same range, however the beam width at that point is huge at 200m. Try and explain that one in court!
Having said that over 1/2 the radar units in our office are now directional specific. In stationary mode it allows the operator to track vehicles in 3 modes (towards, away or towards/away).

wonder if it is a violation (no pylons) under something like the Ministry of Labour? Something like all these lawn care businesses....put one pylon on road on the back left and one at the front, and maybe one in the lane as you approach.......would you not want all pylons BEHIND you to direct traffic around you

I do not know why people keep making a big deal of the licence plate. US cars do not have front plates, some Ont plates are on the corner. Aim directly centre of the front bumper.

Actually, that is super evidence for notes. Obtain the slower vehicle speed and the passing vehicle's speed, confirms observations a lot easier than a solo vehicle as now have a physical comparison in the same plain (directly side by side).Bookm wrote: Did the cop actually see you passing? ... and STILL gave you a ticket?? I heard that most lidar is effective from starting around 1200 feet it can get a pretty good reading?
Lidar is effective A LOT farther than that.....1.2km away easy easily obtainable targets. I personally obtain 3 readings 80% of the time, 2 readings 10% and 4 readings 10% of the time. All of my very last readings on vehicles are 200-400m away ...

Bear, you should be covered by WSIB if you drive your car for work related activities. If you are in a traffic accident, your insurance will apply. But if you receive a compensable loss time injury, you have the option of electing either WSIB or your insurance coverage. You also need to declare to your insurance that you are using your vehicle ...

Wow that is quite extreme experience that you have seen. Would never want that to be here.
If there was a way to make things more efficient, maintaining our standards I am all for that. Such as the written statements by involved persons.
A tightening of our current standards would help increase efficiency as things are becoming slack.

I would not say anything different from a statement than I would on the stand....so how would that not be fair?
I know how JP's are currently appointed.
Think the discussion was an alternative court system, where JP's would have added ability to ask for clarification from the crown and defendant if an issue was located.

Meh... I get a minimum of four hours of pay just for showing up for work if I get called out, or even if I get a cancellation. I don't see much of a problem with them getting 4 hours for a short appearance, particularly since they often have to sacrifice part of a day off..

162K! I might have to join up sooner. :D Don't think I'd feel comfortable getting four hours' overtime pay for a ten-minute appearance, though.
That again is misinformation by the paper....it is not 4hrs overtime pay (time and a half x 4 hrs)....it is a minimum of 4 hrs pay. We have a minimum pay of 6hrs for being recalled to work.
