Just b/c one can not find a SMWD on a search does not mean that a ticket can not be issued.

Re: Fines - Laser Detectors & Laser Jammers
One ticket for each device. It would actually then only be 3 demerit points. When tickets with points are wrote at the SAME DATE and SAME TIME the infraction with the highest points is used, no demerit points are assessed for the second or third offence.

only way to fix auto insurance would be to have the insurance companies directly linked to MTO so can crack down on those without insurance, but also set up a fair means of measurement of all users.

Everyone should watch the show called "Guinea Pig", he got hit by all use of force options (spray, taser, pepper balls, rubber bullets, arwin bullet, gas, dog) available to police. He preferred the taser over every other option.

Very good points folks.
I have experienced the rate change, just b/c I moved....same vehicle. I went from NBay to Kingston, rates went up, went back to the Near North and my rate dropped lower than NBay, then moved down here to SW Ontario and my rate is the highest it has ever been.....what has changed? location, location, location.

Re: How long to lay charges?
To be honest if nothing has happened i think it got put down.
To be honet in my opinoin this is not of priority. If no one was hurt or killed i dont think he is gonna get charged.
Might have had to obtain a warrant to seize blood from hospital, then send the blood to CFS (Centre of Forensic Science) to analyze, which often takes months, then ...

If in doubt if an unmarked cruiser is legit.....
- put on 4 ways
- dial *677 (star OPP) on hwys or *911 on your cell
- give call taker your licence plate.......it is common for police to check your plate prior to stopping, so therefore dispatch can confirm...YES, officer checked your plate 1minute ago...is legit....so stop now.

Tell the young lad to call the investigating officer and ask. Either that no charges are being laid or the investigation is ongoing and the police are checking with the crown to see if there is enough evidence to proceed with charges.

As for the paranoia, isn't that the point of an unmarked cruiser? To make the public think twice even if they don't see a marked cruiser nearby?
I agree that all police should have cruisers that look like everyday civilian vehicles and load them up with hidden lights.
But the adding of other company logos, signs is not right...I would think ...

Rather than the city officials, bring the issue to a City Councillor, actually email them all. Have your matter put on the Council meeting agenda and present you case right in chambers if the first item does not help out. I'm sure you are not the only bicycle to have this issue.

If your insurance company is the same as mine, they won't care as long as you have no MTO record and they're not out of pocket any money.
Agreed!
But remember that there will be a "Collision" logged under your name on the MTO records as all collisions over $1000, property damage or injury are reportable, meaning a collision report has to be done ...

IMHO if you have stopped at the required location...in this instance the stop line you have met the requirements and can proceed and do not need to stop where the dumbass in front of you has inched out 15ft. Every individual MV/MC would have to make a stop at the proper location.
