Re: $150 for being 6 mins late

Toronto within the last 2 years has had a zero tolerance with rush hour parking. Congestion was a hot topic during the last mayoral election and having a zero tolerance on rush hour parking was accepted quite favorably by the public. It was one of the campaign promises John Tory ran on. The idea being why should one person be able to inconvenience ...

Re: U-turn prohibited

It's a good question.

The first thought is what's the minimum distance between a no u-turn sign according to the regulations. If there was (there isn't as far as I know), i'd interpret that to be the answer.

My second thought was exactly what Stanton mentioned, which was wherever the next intersection starts.

The first two pages of notes are his general daily notes. It shows devices tested at the start of the shift, in between, and at the end (Decatur Genesis II Select Directional). The rest of the info is blacked out because they discuss details irrelevant to your stop.

It's hard to make out the notes. The gist of it is you were spotted at an ...

Re: dangerous driving and abstract

These records come in a couple different versions. It's something like 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, and a full history.

An insurance provider will most likely pull up a 3 year abstract to determine rates. However, you'll probably have to answer some questions before signing on the dotted line. They may come out and ask you about your history within ...

How recent? Demerit points last 2 years from the date you were charged, not convicted. Then they simply disappear.

Re: Medical suspension tests while keeping out of province D

If I understand correctly, it sounds like you're currently driving in Alberta and your Alberta license had previously been suspended while driving in Ontario? Alberta has no idea about the suspension and your Alberta license is currently valid?

Medical suspensions are administrative suspensions. They are not convictions. Once you're cleared by a ...

Re: 2 tickets on 401: speeding and permit

I wouldn't be so sure. Paperwork charges like showing your wrong insurance slip or leaving your license at home is no different than speeding 40km. All minor offenses with the same surcharge.

If you want, you can contact your insurance provider and ask. I highly doubt they'd drop the speeding ticket for it anyways.

Re: Speeding 29 over limit

There's a lot of questions here so i'll just fire off some answer really quickly to get you going in the meantime.

- If you're worried about your insurance rates, demerit points are useless. Insurance providers don't use demerit points, the ministry does. Instead of assessing points, your provider puts offenses into 3 categories (minor, major ...

Re: help quick, fined careless driving, hit pedestrian

When you lend your car, you lend your insurance. If there's a claim made by the other individual, your brother is on the hook. They will ding him with a chargeable accident as if he was behind the wheel.

The actual ticket and charge are a different story. That will follow you. That will have nothing to do with your brother.

I'm assuming you don't ...

I was pulled over during a ride program as well, did not bother to ask if i had been drinking but asked for license right away. I had been expired by 1 day due to bday and it expired on that day. I forgot. With no other driver in the car, i was towed out of there and now allowed to finish my journey. Also, lost my insurance documents which i got ...

Re: Summons for Careless Driving, Read End Collision

The reason you received a summons is because there's no set fine in regards to your charge. There's a minimum and a maximum penalty which are to be determined. The officer can't write down a set fine (there isn't any), so that's why you have a summons date.

That's why there's currently very little in terms of options. Once you appear at your ...

Re: Unsafe Left turn on green light, incoming traffic

Red light cameras aren't used for capturing video. They don't record anything other than a few frames used for red light offenses, which isn't a concern considering the description of the events.

This isn't the case everywhere. I believe in the U.S. certain cities will record video. Even then, it's used for the purpose of red light enforcement ...

Re: Cautioned for careless driving

You pretty much got the best answer you're going to get.

Whatever the other driver was charged or wasn't charged with is irrelevant to you. Your insurance provider doesn't care whether they were charged with careless driving or cautioned. Either way, being charged doesn't prove or disprove anything.

Your provider uses the Fault Determination ...

If they want to use the speed on the picture to convict you then I would be asking for full disclosure on the radar unit employed in the camera (manual, when was it installed, when was it tested, maintenance, etc).
