I was fighting a ticket, first one I ever fought, and the officer mentioned there was a school on the road. Here's the funny thing, the offence date was June 28, it was a Sunday and it was 9:00 pm. What does a school have do with it???????

Fix the plate stuff and fight the ticket if you wish. The officer could have nailed you with all three tickets, but he chose not to.

but I some how suspect we'll still see that all too common sound bite "Speed was a factor" slipped in to the reports.

Speed is always a factor cause if you ain't movin' you can't hit anything.

Drives the point home. I think this is needed due to the fact that most of us drive around on a regular basis and nothing happens. We get lulled into a false sense of security, that and automatic cars. Ever try texting while driving a stick?

Re: Are they cops or cowboys?

Most of the street racing incidents in Ontario were in the GTA, but Canada-wide, they were also having a problem in Metro Vancouver. The mechanisms to deal with the problem were already in place thanks to the feds, but the Ontario Liberals decided they wanted to take credit - so they came up with bill 203.

So, when is it going to be about ...

Every day on the roads I am and witness others slightly above the PSL..... it is a normal thing in Ontario. If any car is doing less either the driver is new, is looking for something or is unfamiliar with the roads. Flow of traffic is that flow, not an unnatural bottle neck caused by someone using the ...

Re: What's the proper procedure to pass a car on a 2 lane road?

Well I had my ticket reduced to 15 over today so I didn't lose any points. I was kind of disappointed with the procedure though. I waited for almost two hours before my name was called. I went into the little room and started to tell my story when I was told "sorry to interupt you but we are backed up today, will you plead guilty to 15 over and no ...

Re: speeding ticket for 10km/hour over the limit

I have been told that according to the hiway traffic act, it is legal to be travelling up to 10km per hour over the speed limit
in order to pass another vehicle.

You can be charged with 1 KMH over the limit but that would tie up the court system something awful. You could fight the ticket anyways, just for learning the ropes, not like you are ...

You operate your vehicle on provincial highways, and you have consented to be subject to the HTA.

Yes CORRECT if you have consented....... but what if you don't consent ?

Your consent is your signature on your license.

I could argue an 11B since my 2nd appearance is 1.5 years after the actual offense date.
Easy and simple. Just plan for the worst though.
