Provided that you pass they're credit check!
Using someone's credit history or rating to set the insurance rate is illegal in Ontario.

Re: Sect 8(1) Failure to sign permit $110 fine

Insuranse company doesn't care about convictions like that?

Fail to sign ownership in ink, no. There are one or two very weird insurance companies that would but the overwhelming majority don't care. That particular offence seldom, if ever, will have any effect on your rates.

Speeding tickets, yes, but up to 15 km/h over the limit for first ...

Re: Following to close: no accident

In short: 19 + G2 + traffic ticket = OMG MY INSURANCE IS INSANE!! There are only a couple of insurance companies that tend to be sympathetic to younger/inexperienced drivers who get tickets, but the overwhelming majority of them will drive your rates through the stratosphere, particularly for an offence such as following too closely.

Following too ...

Just to back up what TC said...

You won, congratulations. But there is no need to insult hwybear. I don't always (or usually) agree with him, but that's not the point. The fact that he's willing to take his spare time and engage the public, giving the police perspective on things, is definitely appreciated. That's more than most officers would do ...

Re: DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO!

Medical stuff is always touchy. As racer and ticketcombat said, this is an MTO issue, not a court one. You may also want to try to find a doctor who deals with driver licensing, some of them have a specialized practice. I don't think having DT due to drinking is a disqualifying condition; seizure is disqualifying.

Here's the thing. You only told ...

Re: Speed, Highway Safety & 172

Montana's rural highways have higher death rates because they have higher rates of drunk driving, lower seat-belt compliance, and many of them go through some treacherous mountainous terrain, at least in western Montana. Many of their roads are undivided two-lane highways which, not surprisingly, also have the highest death rates of any type of ...

Re: OVER 49km/h in DVP

heard a story, not sure how true it is......defendant brings in copy of manual to ask questions, prosecutor asks for recess, and officer then brings his copy up onto the stand......defendant asked questions from manual, officer just looked up answers from the manual.

Might be true. The main reasons for requesting the manual are so that the ...

Re: OVER 49km/h in DVP

I sat near a guy at the 1st attendance meeting at 1530 markham rd. he was charged for the same thing, he bought the sticker but had not put on the plate, the prosecutor or assisant prosecutor or whatever he was, signed off the ticket and told the guy the charge was dropped

The Prosecutors at the Provincial Offences Court on Markham Road tend to ...

Re: People are Driving Faster

This is how people in Poland and Germany drive. They know either move out of the way, or your life will be at risk. People on the autobahn no this. They also know if you pull into the left lane you better not inconvenience other drivers. They also no its only a few seconds you better pay attention or youll have people up behind you at double your ...

Re: busted brake line get me out of this?

They should withdraw the "following too closely" charge and replace it with improper brake or unsafe vehicle, not add the other charges. Pointts (or any other paralegal) may be expensive, but considering that you're a young driver with a G2, and have been charged with following too closely where a collision occurred, it would be well worth it. If ...

Re: speeding Ticket recieved at home

Just to add to what Bear & Reflections said... the US is big on "jurisdiction." People get out of tickets down there because Officer So-and-So "didn't have jurisdiction." Because of watching American TV shows, a lot of Canadians get the idea that the officer has to have "jurisdiction" here. Such is not the case.

Yes, a Toronto cop could lay a ...

Re: Someone please help me!!

Neither, actually. It is a provincial charge, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act of Ontario (CAIA). Here's a link to the full text of the law:

http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_90c25_e.htm

So same level as Highway Traffic Act, but not a criminal charge. The minimum fine is $5000, max fine $25 000 for the ...
