Don't forget to find parking, lets drop 20 minutes off the travel time for the 401-DVP-Queens park route and 48 minute to travel 118KM. Lets see 6 goes into 48 8 times........divide 118 by 8 and multiple by 10 and survey says 147.5 KM/H "average". Nope he never even came close to 150..........
So, realistically, Constable Donnelley's testimony ...

Re: Quebec also has "Street Racing" legislation
Yes, Quebec has similar laws, but they actually didn't try to hide anything about it, they said it was to deal with "excessive speeding." They also don't have a vehicle seizure for the first offence, just a roadside licence suspension. Finally, there's a sliding scale, so on lower-speed roads (that may be residential sidestreets), it kicks it at 40 ...

Legal? Probably. Fair/shady? Well... that's debatable.

Re: Fail to obey signs when passing an OPP cruiser
On the ticket itself it doesn't state what sign I was disobeying. It only says "disobey sign".
Yes, sort of. I'm guessing he didn't say which sign it was, either. The disclosure request will be key, in that you will get the officer's notes and be able to form a defence from there, among other things. Ask for an explanation and clarification of ...

Re: HTA172 and police conduct
But who? The OPP, the province? both?
Everyone. The OPP, the officer, the Attorney-General of Ontario. Not saying that the lawsuit would be successful, but people who had their vehicles impounded and subsequently got acquitted of the charge should get reimbursed. If several similar lawsuits are successful, they'll mothball the law or repeal the ...

Re: Street racing?
Any links to the case where the guy was going over 300, and how they caught him? That one sounds interesting!
Unfortunately all of the links I had were broken links. The CBC originally reported it on May 23, 2005, with the headline: "OPP reports weekend lunacy on roads." It was on the Victoria Day long weekend. They clocked a guy on the 400 at ...

Re: People are Driving Faster
People do drive extremely fast on the 400. When I hear people complain of crazy driving on the 401, I usually say: "Yeah, it's a little challenging... but if you think that's bad, try the 400." Wide road, long commutes, and a higher police tolerance for speeds. If they stop and tow the guy going 150 they'll miss the guy going 180+.

Re: Improper left turn
You know, it is about 0.01 second thing.
You may be right, you may not be able to change anything. It's still worth a try. $4400 per year is a lot to pay in insurance premiums. If nothing else, FSCO could provide you with more help than I could. I'm told that they are usually helpful, and willing to clarify what should've happened and how the ...

Re: Improper left turn
luckyrat6, call your insurance company and politely tell them that perhaps they did not correctly understand how the crash happened. If your adjuster said that the driver who turns left is always 100% at fault, he is not correct, and perhaps you should ask him for a clarification of why the Fault Determination Rules do not apply to this case. You ...

In the disclosure request, also ask for the officer's driving and disciplinary record. If he has a history of this sort of behaviour it weakens his credibility on the witness stand.

Re: Street racing?
Because the radio is faster then any car on the road......still laughing though
That's probably why.
That said, 231 is still way below the provincial record some guy from Toronto set on the 400... he was caught going 300+.
How fast did the cop have to drive to catch this guy.
